The Maserati Quattroporte, Ghibli and Levante will now be available with 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engines in India.



In the Quattroporte and Quattroporte S, the engine produces 345 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 500 Nm @ 1,750-4,500 rpm and 424 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 580 Nm @ 2,250-4,000 rpm respectively.



The engine makes 345 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 500 Nm @ 4,500 rpm in the Ghibli and 424 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 580 Nm @ 2,250-4,000 rpm in the Ghibli S.



In the Levante, the engine puts out 345 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 500 Nm @ 2,000-4,750 rpm and in the Levante S, it makes 424 BHP @ 5,750 rpm / 580 Nm @ 2,000-4,750 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission is available as standard across all cars.



Maserati is also offering new tri-coat colours and full-grain Pieno Fiore leather as well as veneers for the interior. The cars come with an option of 20-inch or 21-inch alloy wheels. The Levante gets the GrandSport styling theme inspired by the GTS and Trofeo versions.

They are all priced 30% higher than they should be for India. Maserati's are just not as aspirational anymore.

Anyone buying a Quattroporte would buy a Maybach for a similar price. Today the Maybach badge is more aspirational than the Maserati IMO
Someone looking for a more sporty sedan like the Ghibli S would get a M5 Competition for a similar price. With performance waaayyyy better.

Italian marque Maserati has announced the launch of a new petrol powertrain across three of its models in India. The 3.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol V6-powered Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans have been priced at Rs 1.31-1.44 crore and Rs 1.64-1.73 crore, respectively, while the Levante SUV commands a sum of Rs 1.42-1.53 crore in its new avatar (all prices, ex-showroom, India).

Available across all three models in two states of tune each, the new engine puts out 350hp and 500Nm in the standard guise, while the more exciting S spec boasts an output of 430hp and 580Nm. Compliant with the latest emission norms, the petrol engine is equipped with pneumatic valves in the exhaust system, which are said to help deliver an aural experience befitting a Maserati. A standard 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox handles the transmission duties.

Commenting on the launch, Bojan Jankulovski, head of operations, Maserati India said, “With the introduction of the V6 petrol versions of Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte, we follow through, yet again, on our commitment to satisfy the significantly increasing demand for petrol cars in India. Maserati has been the icon for luxury performance cars with its exquisite line-up of beautifully crafted vehicles, and we will continue to fulfill our customers’ penchant for world-class standards.”

The company has also used this opportunity to introduce minor tweaks and feature improvements to its models. In their diesel variants, the SUV and sedans get a redesigned gearshift lever and a more user-friendly drive mode selector, in addition to a revised airflow distribution control for the driver and front passenger. The 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been improved with updated graphics and ergonomics.

As before, all three Maseratis get a sporty trim and a more luxury-focused version, aptly named the GranSport and the GranLusso, respectively. The automaker has added the option of the high-grade ‘Pieno Fiore’ leather upholstery and a choice of high-quality interior veneers.

The range of body colours available has been revised with two more tri-coat colours – Rosso Potente and Blu Nobile. Furthering the customisability are new designs of alloy wheels available as 20- and 21-inchers.

. Probably why Maserati claims to target merely 100 sales in India this year (source) and even there, I think the company is fibbing about its numbers.

The only one buying these would be one looking for uniqueness (less common on the road). Mayback while lots better everything-wise still is a S class which one can spot at-least 10 across all gen in a metro city in 1 hour on the road at minimum in areas close to key business hubs.

Ms and AMGs - leaps ahead in terms of equipment, performance, reliability, maintainability at a better value for the money relatively.
