Is this a 911 or a 997? Either ways,it looks nice!

Speedy, you are right. A huge chunk of people who buy exotics/fancy cars, have absolutely no clue what to ever about their cars. Its all in the style,to be able to flaunt it. Very few actually know things about their cars,or in other words, are enthusiasts in the true sense.

911 997 Turbo is what it is. 997 is the project code name. 911 is the brand/model number, which is basically now a cult name.

like everywhere but particularly in poorer countries.
Maan did i get a slag of on SSC 'exotics' thread wen i dared to suggest that its conspicuous consumption.
BTW 911 aint exactly a 'cult' name, its the model name that goes back to the original mid '70s 911.The road car that put porsche on the map realy9theyed already won Le Mans)The point being that they resemble the original in looks , purpose & basic engineering IE:rear engine rear wheel drive. No one else does that.

F430 or Modena?

I spotted a Ferrari F430 (or a Modena?) at the 100ft Road Indira Nagar on Saturday last weekend. It approached me from the ring road side and zipped past. It was not registered yet (had the TR sticker).

Boy, was it wide. And it looked monstrous compared to the rest of the vehicles ahead of it.

The guy inside ripped for a few 100 feet where the traffic was light. But, the real pity was, the road was packed as usual for the hour.

Time for my first serious contribution to this thread.

Yesterday, finished breakfast with my friends at New Shanti Sagar in Jayanagar 4th block and was walking back. Friends had gone home and I was alone, talking on the phone when I saw this jet black 911 Carrera take a turn and move away. I was stunned !! A Porsche in Jayanagar !?!?

I continued walking and then I suddenly look up and see the same car standing right in front of me. It was not even a normal 911 Carrera. It was a Carrera S with the optiona Sport package (I saw the stop watch on the dash). It was parked in front of a house and the passenger side door was open. The owner was right there. While talking to my friend, I peeped inside the car and smelled the leather. I walked round and round the car describing as much as I could to my friend on the phone.

This friend isnt one who is passionate abt cars, but a Porsche can always get one a bit excited.

After making 2 trips round the car, I thought of continuing towards to my house when I looked up and saw ANOTHER 911 Carrera S !! Both parked back to back !!

I lost it at that moment. I have a very old phone (my dad's old 6610) and no camera with me. Luckily my house was 50 metres from this house. So, I went home and brought the camera.

By this time, only the black one was standing. I was so disappointed. I started clicking away.

2 mins later, my patience was rewarded as the silver Porsche also came back.

Took loads of pics of the cars from as many angles I could. On closer inspection I realised that both of them were automatics. No paddle shifts either.

Both cars had yellow brake calipers. does that mean both cars had Ceramic discs ?

By this time, I had called up a friend of mine who is crazy abt cars and he also joined me. We spent 5 mins admiring these cars and the owners came out and saw us taking pics. they smiled at us and must have felt pleased that their cars were drawing so much attention.

My friend and I were arguing abt the capacity of the engines. I told him it was a 3.8 litre flat six and hewas saying it was 3.6 litre. The owner of one of the cars heard us and confirmed that it was a 3.8 litre.

They got into the cars with some kids (all stuffed into the back seat ). We heard the driver of the black 911 tell the other driver of the other to go towards NICE road.

My friend and I were so goddamn jealous of them. A sunday morning, 2 porsche 911 Carrera Ss and NICE road. Brilliant.

Both cars started their engines and drove away from there. The driver of the blakc car did rev his engine a bit harder than was necessary !! what a showoff !!! :P

The Black 911 had the rear spoiler out even when it was parked. I guess the driver forgot to manually lower it. He might have manually raised it while driving.
