How can this be a private import? I dont think the Focus RS cost more than 40.000 US$.

I guess it is. It costs about 27000 GBP. Going by present conversion rates, that'd be slightly more than 40000 US $

Spotted one maroon coloured one in Chennai OMR recently. Sorry, I couldn't take any pictures. Btw, it was a 5 door one and the logo was covered with a tape, probably on a test drive by Ford engineers.

A five door one couldn't be a RS. Could be a standard focus

Nice car but I expect the owner paid around 40-50L to get it down here. I think that is decidedly insane because:
1. It is a ford
2. It is a hatchback
3. It is a ford!

But if money isnt an issue. Would definitely pay that kind of money for it for the insane fun you are going to have behind the wheel. so much fun for the price of an e-class.

It looks like it has been registered in India. Nice! God knows how much it cost him/her to get it down here!

Its still to get registered. Its running on an MH 43 temp #### no right now. Theres a Grey M3 in town too. The owner for this and the Ford seem to be the same. Can anyone get more news on that.

I wonder how this car has been imported.

If it has to be imported by paying full customs duty, this car would not be allowed as it is not exempt from Homologation. It has a 2.5 litre engine. To be exempt, it needs to have a minimum engine size of 3001 cc ( petrol )

Im pretty sure this car has come under a ''Transfer of Residence''.

Also, driving in Mumbai with an MH-43 TR number is illegal. Legally, a car registered outside Mumbai ( anything other than MH-01, 02, 03 ) cannot be driven inside the city until it is permanently registered. An MH-01 TR number denotes that Octroi has been paid and the vehicle can be driven inside the city if the driver posseses a 'FORM 19'. Again as per the rules, only employees of a dealership can hold a valid FORM 19.

So on TR means she is not brand new as I recall for TR car cannot be brand new car unless below 1600cc (some years ago not sure if engine cc has been raised for TR now) car needs to be registered in the RHD market where the individual is coming on transfer from for min 1 year. I would not be surprised if it is shashi kapoors son he is into Rally cars as I recall he imported Mumbai's (Maybe even India's) Mitsubishi Evo white car brand new in 99. He likes WRC as I gather.
