I was just reading the write-up on Evo in an auto mag. The author says the Evo has got large rear leg-room and we could probably see the first chauffeur driven Evo in the world right here in INDIA

A very interseting thought indeed but could actually happen!

Just as a mental exercise, what if one were to order an Evo X from a Japanese exporter, like this agency?
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 New 2010 Model in Japan

This would cost about $44,700 (~21 lac INR) plus shipping plus whatever import duties are leviable. Any clues how much the duty would be?

Has anyone used this or imported similarly on Team BHP?

Many racing and Sport car enthusiastic's are keeping their fingers crossed for the mostly awaiting EVO launch in India, now it seems that Mitsu will disappoint all Indian EVO fans by quoting a very high price.

Any new car imported into india should be above 40,000 dollars

@chaostheory When you add up the import duties of 110%, that would end up near the sticker price ( around 50 lacs) offered by Mitsubishi here in India.

Re: EXCLUSIVE PICS: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X (Ten) in India.

Mitsubishi Evo X costs 22 lakh rupees in the UK. Since it will be imported to India expect it to cost around 44 lakhs(100% import duty). So Indians will be paying 22 lakhs for the car and another 22 lakhs to the Indian govt as duty for buying an imported car.

This price only makes sense to the uber rich or people with lot of black money. So rest of Indians can forget about owning this car. It would have been a steal for 22 lakhs. But alas we are not born in USA or UK. We are in india where there are taxes and taxes...

Spotted a silver Evo X on the sea link yesterday night. Was just amazing. I was doing a 140 and it just whizzed past me in a breeze. The car sounds amazing.

@shekhar: I spotted the same one around 3 months back. It looked fantastic from with the huge spoiler and the those tail lamps, for a moment i thought it was a Corolla Altis, but the exhaust rumble was a giveaway.

Re: EXCLUSIVE PICS: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X (Ten) in India.

This car currently sits in the Mitsubishi showroom in Atria Mall at Worli. There happens to be another Evolution X in Bombay which is silver. Photos of which I shall post below.

Forgive the quality as its not the best.
