Well it comes down to what he wants out of it. If he wants to drive it himself and have space for friends and family, the S 65 does the job. If the car is to be chauffeur driven and he still wants some style out of it, the RR would do.
At the juncture, price isn't of much consideration.

Agreed, but do you think the S 65 AMG is worth that kind of a price, considering the below ordinary looks of the new S class, street presence and if at all it's to be used for speeding, the length might turn out to be a constraint etc.

Everyone is giving their suggestions on what could have been a better option. But there is one word that matters for some that spend that much on a car - EXCLUSIVITY !

How many Bentleys, RR phantoms do you see on the road? Several all over India
How many S65 AMG do you see? Almost none !

It might look exactly like the S350 to some but its the S65 badge value and the feeling of being "different" that matters to some.

Lets appreciate the car, this is not a what 3crore car would you buy thread.

It could also be that the owner did NOT want the attention that comes with a Rolls or a Bentley?! I know several personalities of the type.

Great find, Sahil. One of the few sedans that combines extreme luxury with extreme performance. In my books, this dude has sheer taste.

Now thats an amazing point.Exclusivity.We have had enough of bentleys and RR phantoms. So if the owner was looking for exclusivity, then i would say he's done an excellent job.

The S65 was not made for the mass market..so saying that it is an absolute failure is a bit harsh. Yes it is not the most popular Mercedes and will never be, but it is a peach of a car with a gem of an engine. I completely agree that this must be the only S65 in India and would have been bought for the exclusivity. Also I believe people who buy the 63 or 65 AMGs buy it because they don't want to come in the limelight which would be in case of an RR or Bentley.

Personally given a chance I would definitley buy an S65. Any of 65 AMGs are my dreamcars. They are the most under rated cars. Comparing the S65 with a supercar would be wrong. But full marks to the lucky owner who has bought this beast.

Having said that, you do need some real guts to buy a 2.5 + Crore car which 99% people in India would pass off as only a "badi waali Merc Ess Klass"

Agreed but this is also not a 3cr car, so the basis of argument is flawed, 2.25 yes but not 3.25, i can imagine a number getting warped when going from one ear to the other..

All said and done, I love the S65...its mindblowing to look at and drive fast..

I complete agree with you Sahil, this car has been bought for pure exclusivity. Because the person who owns this has already got a RR Phantom, a Bentley Continantal GT & even a same series S350 (ofcourse not white, but Andorite Gray) in his garage along with some more excotic, but unfortunetly, even though he has spend so many crores for all that he has not got an exclusivity with other cars where as he enjoy exclusiveness in all other areas he is involved. Hence he might of thought of this extravagant luxury-sport sedan.

And this exclusive man is non other than the versatile personality of Bollywood, Mr.Amitab Bachan.

Now no body has to guess on the price, it cost Rs.2.50 Crores only. A friend from MB India conveyed me the information.

GOD !! son buys a lambo costing 3 cr , father has a saloon costing 2.5 cr , the exclusivity tag is only applicable when people actually know this is the most expensive s- class one can buy , to the common man it would seem like a normal s - class , that price tag is simply out of the s class's depth . The clk black would have been a better option

Guys, if the S65 was such a bad choice and there were so many other "better" choices - Merc wouldnt sell any of them now would they?
Obviously the owner had his own reasons to choose this car.

Exactly!

The W221 S-Class has grown on me a LOT! When it first came out i thought it was quite a dissapointing change from the "typical merc design", but now i just love it (except the rear).

Quite a ridiculous beast this car!!

The CLK Black will not suit someone like AB. Its more of a young mans car and it doesn't have rear seats.
