A friend who owns the Black Audi R8 put this up on his fb page, 4 Super Cars at Mahabalipuram on a Sunday morning.

A very poor pic of a BMW 6 series that I spotted around Cath Road . I have seen it parked on the road several times earlier. But this time was able to snap a grainy pic

The Aventador at one of Chennai's best spotting locations. Thanks to the owner for choosing to come there last Sunday. Finally got to see my first Aventador

^ Just curious. Where is this place? Will be in town for about 3 months, hoping I can see the cars.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Maybe a dumb question....but how do these road-hugging sports cars manage with the speed-breakers on our roads ?

One of the roads in Neelangarai, Chennai (where VIPs reside/have week-end-getaway-bungalows) has speed-breakers put up recently...couple of them are not perpendicular to the road, but at an angle...maybe infuenced by sports-car owners who reside in that road ??!

Some of these cars have adjustable suspensions which raise the cars an inch or so when required. Lamborghinis have them.

Another factor is that sports cars have hard suspensions, which mean that the real ground clearance is not as bad.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Hey guys! I stumbled across this Germany-registered orange Smart convertible on Tuesday morning, near the entrance to Mahabalipuram. Apparently it's a demo car for a German plastics company, and is on a tour around the world. It uses some new kind of fibre body panels instead of steel.

EDIT - Sorry, it uses polymer bearings rather than conventional metals ones. More info on this here - http://www.autocarpro.in/ap/news-nat...-tier-1s-india

Also saw the new-generation Range Rover Sport near the Royal Enfield showroom in Ambattur Industrial Estate yesterday evening.

Hi vivriti, can you explain in detail how a hard suspension would help?

I have once seen HJ drive his Bicolore over a bumpy kerb. One of the wheels lifted and the car did not scrape at all.

I have also seen R8s negotiate a tall speed breaker located near Subway, Wallace Garden without scraping

Hi Blue Thunder, I have noticed the speed breakers set at an angle too and as a supercar nut, the first thought that hit me was that it could have been influenced by the supercar owners there.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

The Aventador seem to customized for Indian "situations".
See those 4 lemons on the front grill.

Makes me think of Vivek's(Tamil comedian) dialogues.

It doesn't matter how good the car is. It still needs an "Indian" accessory to run better. Reminds me of Vivek's line from the Tamil movie 'Minnale'.

Hi Sivasankar,

Since hard and quicker suspensions compress less and rebound fast after negotiating speed breakers, the car will be at a higher height and unlikely to scrape as long as the speed breaker is lower than the Ground clearance .
This is in comparison with softer suspensions with more wheel travel.

Chennai may have many supercars but there is quite nothing that matches up to this!
An immaculate Aston Martin DB6 Coupe in a beautiful shade of red. That black interior with red piping is dripping with British elegance.
Easily the coolest car around

Pics shared by a fellow bhpian, mlcarrera, on his FB page!
