There are currently two M5's in Chennai. One blue and the other is a silver/gray.

A third M5 (white) will be here in a few months.

Had the BMW India M5 car for the day, was a hoot to drive.

You Sir are a lucky person . I wouldn't expect anything less from an M5 . Could you elaborate on how good the car was to drive ? I've extensively driven a friend's F10 520D and found the car adequately fast for Chennai's roads so I'm wondering how the M5 would've been . Could you post a few pics too if it isn't too much to ask .

Regards,
Balaji

It's definitely a beast to drive. Can be driven sedately or just set her in one of the M modes to unleash the full 560 bhp.
The best part is that it's a very practical car to drive; can be used as a daily drive.

We did a comparison with a Jag XFR. The power delivery in the XFR in instantaneous as its Supercharged.

However, in the M5 there is a slight lag (probably due to the regular fuel put in - not 97 octane). However the M5 feels more planted and sophisticated to drive.

The XFR is a whole load of fun too....traits of a typical American muscle car (it runs on a ford/ Shelby tuned engine)

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

The hotelier's Aston Martin Rapide. I love the owner for the quality food he provides (albeit at a price) and his capacity to treat this as one more car, parking it in a regular lot & leaving it unattended by chamchas.

But sir, I would be much happier if you do away with the silly after market additions. Whoever advised you to go for them wasn't doing so on his best day.

1) The roof ornament
2) The LED strips at the rear of the car - those below the chrome strip and on the bottom of the bumper
3) The door protectors
4) The design of the lettering on the registration plates

That's one awesome car!!
Do you think the cops will stop him in a signal and fine him for the improper number plates? I don't think so! They, themselves will be drooling at this beauty!

Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam. He's seen frequently in the area and guess he knows every pothole / poor patch work and bump on the road there. It was a pleasure watching him thread the ultra low slung car gracefully over that stretch...

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

I was on my way back from the airport tonight, having returned from Singapore, where one spots the most amazing cars on a daily basis. Not just the supercars, either, but quite a lot of more modest stuff that makes one wonder, "why not in India?"

Anyway, I was still impressed to see an Audi A8 on the ECR at Thiruvanmiyur. Cannot be more specific, except that it was "3.0" and an "L" was there somewhere (not together, as in 3.0L!).

(EDIT: Silly me: A8 L is indeed the model, but flash-based websites are more than I can bare, so I looked no further)

Audi buyers are certainly on the increase here, but why-oh-why, when spending that much on a car, a people choosing white? It seems to be the Audi India colour!

Re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Was on my way home from Mumbai International Airport in Fortuner last last mid-night when we were stopped by Cops for check if we were drunk as there are lots of 5 star hotels nearby. As were were talking to the cops, my friend isodope shouted lot, M5. We ignored the Cops and started looking at the beauty.
The highway was all empty, so we were under an impression of he will rip of Mumbai roads but to our shock, the driver was driving sanely. Like 80 kmph!

Dude, this is the Chennai thread.
Please ask the mods to move your post to the Mumbai thread.
