re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Saw an Audi A8 4.2 Quatro in Thiruvanmiyur yesterday.

I've had the pleasure of being a passenger in my cousin's A8 in UK, and it is a superb car, both for looks and comfort, not to mention the effortless purring with which it handles the Lake District hills and lanes. I expect the new one will match in most of these categories, but, so far as looks are concerned, I was very disappointed.

The Maserati... No disappointment possible about the looks there . A beauty indeed!

Was it the White 4.2tdi ? I'v seen it loads of times on the ECR at the Thiruvanmiyur RTO Signal, but I only managed to capture a Hazy picture of it on my Cell Phone camera, I am kind of scared to venture out on the ECR with a DSLR at nights.

Seen the White and the Black Rolls Royce Ghost, the KL Registered White Fiat 500, a White Volvo S80 being driven like it was stolen, A Black Range Rover Sport, the White N420 V8 Vantage, the Silver E60 M5, Captain's Grey E93 M3, tons of E60/F10 5ers and the latest gen F01 7ers, A4's A6's, X6's, Black Hummer H3, all of them on the ECR and all during the evenings or at Nights ! I also saw a Black Q7 3.0tdi with aftermarket Quad Exhausts exiting the Petrol Pump next to KFC at Palavakam and oh boy it sure did make a loud rumble !

Anyways here is a rattling old Audi 100 with the Audi Badges missing near the Thiruvanmiyur Depot,

Quite likely, although all I could read on the back was "4.2 Quatro", and I had to be fairly close to see the "quatro"; it is discrete! My cousin's older A8 is a 4.2, but pretty sure it is petrol. I have never had any reason to to get familiar with the line up! Still disappointed with the looks. I know VW/Audi go for understatement, but this is about as exciting as a Hyundai!

I'm not a sports-car lover --- but that Maserati is like good classical music, or a beautiful yacht: just classical, time-beating beauty.

re: Supercars & Imports : Chennai

Saw this Volvo S80 - V8 - AWD yesterday in Kotturpuram.

Supercars & Imports : Chennai-volvo_s80.jpg

Appeared to follow a white 5 series which was driven aggressively. Saw a couple of white 7 series moments before and after this (PY/TN) registration.

Saw an dark grey X6 GT in Nandanam and an unregistered silver Q7 in T Nagar the day before, all being driven fast. Looks like the days of gingerly driving these expensive rides are gone.

Surely. Was overtaken, outside the curve by a BMW driver who cut in front (ok... no real hassle, there was room, so I'm not shouting abut it but it still is not good driving) when turning left to approach Adyar Bridge from the North. The car proceded like a bad 2-wheeler driver, chasing, cutting and weaving. Shame to have such a car and still need basic driving lessons.

I guess there are those to whom these cars are their pride and joy --- and those to whom the cost of the vehicle or repairs really doesn't mean much.

Swiftdiesel , while I agree with you that it may not have the new age, it is kind of regal and I can certainly assure you ( having driven one myself) that the car does epitomize japanese luxury.

Jaguar Land Rover Dealership, Chennai

Team, The covers have just been taken off Chennai's Jaguar Land Rover dealership. Its coming up in a high-rise on Ethiraj Salai next to Sangeetha Restaurant.

I believe the dealership will be run by VST Motors - veteran Tata distributors. The logos and framed photographs have been put up though the cars haven't been put up on display yet.

Tata and Jaguar Land Rover rock!!!

Are you kidding ???LS is far better than a S class and a BMW 7er in terms of ride quality, handling and power though it might not look as good and as far as a diesel variant is concerned lexus focuses more on american market than europe and american's don't like diesel cars at all. Instead LS comes with a Hybrid and there is no other car competing with it in that segment.
