Spotted this 6x6 monster.

Hi guys i was testing my jeep on the Banglore-Mumbai highway and saw this Huge monster airport fire fighting truck on a trailer. It was one of the best fire brigade trucks i have ever seen in real life till date. It is a 6x6 and has coil spring suspension all around.I could not get the in cab pictures but from the glass i could see it was fitted with sport style seats and sport type 5 or 6 point harness seatbelts. From the name i feel its a German make and on asking the driver he said it was heading to Chinnai airport. Check these photos.

rosenbauer fire trucks

very long time ago there was a programme on ? discovery/NGC about these. were highlighted as a significant advancement in firetrucks
few points i remember
  • low body height, especially low placed water tanks for low CG
  • much faster than a regular fire truck
  • very low body roll ( had shown a comparitive video of rosenbauer truck and regular fire truck-dont remember which company it was)
  • more powerful and longer ranged water canon
  • all wheel drive to enable it to run fast even after leaving runway in airport area

was pretty impressive

It is an Austrian company. There is a thread somewhere here. AAI had ordered them for the major airports in the country; was in the news some years ago, IIRC.

Edit: Found the thread/post

I too saw about 6+ of these trucks coming from the Wadala road (road leading to Imax) climbing the Bridge and going on the Eastern Express Highway.

I saw them around 8 months back 3 of them lined up inside delhi airport .I am telling you man i could see numerous strobe lights around it blinking like nobody's business. It was just so cool the moment you see the truck you say mannnnnnnn this will definitely control the fire i can bet on that.
Moreover on a lighter note i could see the name of the company or truck is rosenbaer.Does it has something to do with moserbaer?.

these monsters are performing fire dril almost daily at about 9-10am at Mumbai AIrport.. the most weird thing is that they do the mock drill right besides where thehre are some other extra aircrafts are parked and that is very next to the fire station, arent mock drills suppsoed to be done at a remote area?
