Maserati Grecale launched at Rs 1.31 crore

Maserati has launched the Grecale in India. The SUV is available in three variants with prices starting from Rs 1.31 crore (ex-showroom).

The Grecale is positioned below the Levante in Maserati’s SUV line-up. It competes with the Porsche Macan.

The Grecale gets Maserati’s signature grille at the front, gills on the front fenders, and the Trident logo on the C-pillar. The SUV has slim wraparound tail lights with dual exhausts at the back. It rides on either 19, 20, or 21-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Grecale comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an 8-inch touchpad for the climate controls and a digital instrument cluster. It also offers 14-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and memory functions, a head-up display, 3-zone automatic climate control, and Level 1 ADAS.

The GT and Modena variants come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system, which produces 296 BHP on the entry-level GT variant and 325 BHP on the mid-spec Modena trim. Both variants have the same torque figure of 450 Nm @ 2000 - 5000 rpm. The latter gets a limited-slip differential and adaptive suspension.

The range-topping Trofeo variant is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 523 BHP and 620 Nm. All three variants get an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Somehow this is a car that is just priced double as compared to what it sells in the Middle East, so not bad pricing. But I am not sure how many would want a Maserati in India as compared to other luxury cars.

One can get better brand value (S-Class / GLS / X7 / 7 Series) at this price point, one can also get better or similar looking cars (Macan / Cayenne / Fpace) at lower price.
Plus, Maserati is now known to most Indians, hence the recognition is also missing :P. I am unable to see the target audience and rationale for this product positioning
