1995 BMW 850 CSi Art Car presented at India Art Fair

The 14th BMW Art Car based on a 1995 BMW 850 CSi has been put on display at the India Art Fair in New Delhi. The car will be on display till February 3, 2019.

BMW calls the art cars 'Rolling Sculptures' and they are created by artists from around the world. Since 1975, 19 artists have created Art Cars based on BMW models. The 1995 BMW 850 CSi on display was painted by British artist David Hockney. He has painted an X-ray view of the interior which gives the impression of a transparent bodywork. On the bonnet, you can see parts of the 5.6-litre V12 engine. Tyre treads are painted on the wheel arches and a silhouette of a human figure can be found on the driver's side. On the passenger side, Hockney has painted a California landscape depicting a road, trees and the sun. He has also painted a dog behind the driver.

The BMW 850 CSi is a 2-door coupe which is powered by a 5.6-litre V12 engine that produced 375 BHP and 550 Nm of torque. Only 1,510 cars were produced between 1992 and 1996.
