Porsche 911 facelift launched at Rs 1.99 crore

Porsche recently unveiled the 911 facelift for the global market. Initially, only the base Carrera and GTS versions have been updated. The carmaker has also started accepting bookings in India, with the Carrera priced at Rs 1.99 crore and the Carrera 4 GTS at Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom).

As part of the update, the 911 Carrera and Carrera GTS versions get a slightly revised exterior with new headlamps, OLED taillights and active aero features. Inside, you get a new fully digital instrument cluster, which replaces the old semi-digital unit and its analogue tachometer.

The base 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer engine that produces 389 BHP and 450 Nm. It is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The new Carrera GTS is Porsche’s first hybrid 911. It is powered by a 3.6-litre flat-6 engine, paired with a gearbox-mounted electric motor. It develops 541 BHP and 610 Nm and is mated to an 8-speed PDK. In India, Porsche is offering the all-wheel drive version of the GTS.

Re: Porsche 911 facelift launched at Rs 1.99 crore

Thankfully the Mode switch on the steering wheel is now standard across all variants. But, sadly, they have added a push button to start the engine instead of the traditional Porsche way of inserting the key to start the engine. :-(

Re: Porsche 911 facelift launched at Rs 1.99 crore

Couple of things I noticed from recent launches by Porsche India. As a market, it appears, Porsche India is taking us seriously. Bookings are started immediately as elsewhere.

I also found a lot of options now either at no costs or at lower costs than before. Like we can now choose much more wider colours for this GTS at no cost, some of these were 5-6 lac option before.

For fun, I will build something like this

Wow, I didn't expect Porsche to launch the car so soon in India.

By many accounts, the hybrid Carrera GTS is supposed to be one of the cleverest powertrains of recent times. I'm a little envious of people who can afford it.

I really loved the analog tachometer, I hoped they'd have kept that.
911 has been the dream car for many and porsche is still managing to make the 911 desirable as ever.

Re: Porsche 911 facelift launched at Rs 1.99 crore

To be honest, its a decent pricing considering the improvement.

Carmine red and special colour ( laguna blue) were all 4 lakhs worth colour option. That is now a standard choice.

Something new i have noted it that.

1) Rear seat is deleted in default configuration. We have to add rear seat as a free of cost option from seats. Rear seats were the USP of 911 since the of inception.

2) Aero kit requires Porsche Sports exhaust as a mandatory add on pushing the price up further.

3) previously parking sensors were a seperate option, now only surround view is added option.

4) sports seats have become much more expensive.

5) even partial leather trim is more costly now.

6) matrix headlight is relatively cheaper considered to previous gen.

7) Front axle lift system has become more expensive ( mostly due to popular demand)

Overall considering these options, the previous gen and current gen has only marginal price bump for a good significant upgrade (except losing analogue tacho and VW start-stop button)

Re: Porsche 911 facelift launched at Rs 1.99 crore

I’m waiting to see what updates they bring to the carrera S and Turbo S. Those are the more popular models for our market.

I just hope the hybrid tax concession comes in so the GTS could get more affordable

Received these from Bangalore Porsche dealer. The standard options look pretty good!
