A 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S which suffered extensive damage in a fire at the 4 Seasons workshop in Mumbai will be given a new lease of life as a track car.



According to the new owner, this 997 911, called Project Phoenix, will get a flat nose, air suspension, and a roll cage, among other features. From the pictures, it appears that the car has suffered minimal damage at the front and extensive damage at the rear. The interiors of the car have been destroyed as well. A video posted by the owner on Instagram shows the car's engine firing up during the restoration process.

Phoenix is an apt name for the project. According to Greek mythology, Phoenix is a bird that rises from its ashes to obtain new life.

It will be great to see this Porsche 911 up and running again.

I really wish to know what engine it is because it certainly doesn’t sound like a Porsche flat six. Is it possible that it’s had a heart donated from another car? Perhaps even an American heart, transplanted into it?

Looks like a Porsche flat 6 from the video. Engines often sound like this if they're running pig rich, especially before a tune. My inline 6 pulled off a pretty good impression of a V8 running wild cams before getting tune.
