India’s first Porsche Studio opens in Delhi

Porsche has launched a new showroom format for our market. Dubbed the ‘Porsche Studio’, it is the first of its kind in the country, and one of just 14 in the world. Located in Connaught Place, New Delhi, the Studio aims to enhance the experience of buying a Porsche by providing customers a more relaxed ambience, as well as digital tools to configure their vehicles.

Re: India's first Porsche Studio opens in Delhi

Very nice, very similar, if not identical to how Porsche does it in many other countries. Does make you wonder how many cars they think they can sell in Delhi.

Irronically, Connaught place would be about the last place I would take my Porsche too.

Does anybody have any credible information about Taycan launch in India? A friend of mine has been waiting for it.

According to ACI, the Porsche studio in Delhi is only one of 14 worldwide. Does anyone know where the other 13 are?

The new dealership is doing good. I won’t have numbers but they are usually busy. Porsche is also opening a new one at Chandigarh soon.

Even I was surprised but as per dealership, its considering distances from some of the posh colonies of Delhi to Connaught place.

Re: India's first Porsche Studio opens in Delhi

I like all of Porsche’s innovative dealerships and outlets - Porsche Now, Porsche Studio, Porsche Center, Porsche Design — all of these make a Porsche owner feel special, and also makes the brand seem more premium.

The pictures look great too. But by the looks of it, it can accommodate only one-two cars. What good is a dealership if I can’t touch and feel a car?

I believe many carmaker’s already have configurators on their websites, so why do we need to travel to a dealership and do the same thing that we can do from our own house?

1. Porsche Studio Taiwan - Hsinchu
2. Porsche studio Taiwan - Taoyuan
3. Porsche Studio Korea - Cheongdam
4. Porsche Studio Great Britain - Mayfair
5. Porsche Studio Milan
6. Porsche Studio Beirut
7. Porsche Studio Bangkok
8. Porsche Studio Guangzhou

These are all I know of. Other BHPians can help you out here, by adding the other 5 to this list.

.
From my own experience in Germany, UK and the Netherlands I would say that these days a Porsche Center is even better than these studio’s. For no other reason they have near identical amenities, same feel and they are a real Porsche dealer too. So they tend to have the full range of cars on display. The other difference tends to be locations; these studios you will find typically at top retail locations. Whereas your Porsche Center tends to be on some industrial estate at the edge of a major town.

Porsche has an excellent online configurator. By far the best I have played around with. Much better than for instance the JLR one. Even the JLR sales people struggled with it. I spend a few hours with them as I was interested in Range Rover.

The other noticeable thing is Porsche still provides very high quality paper brochures, or even better yet; I have been looking at the Panamera Sport Turismo. A complete book!! Absolutely love it. By sharp contrast, JLR does not even have a single paper brochure and or leaflet anymore. All the dealer can do is to refer you to their stupid, poorly designed, configurator.

Although I have bought second hand cars, unseen, from the Internet, including my gorgeous Jaguar X308, I don’t think I would ever buy a new car from internet only. Even if I would be buying the tiniest, cheapest car, let alone a Porsche.

I find these configurators are very useful to help you come to turns with the car, options, features, colours, pricing etc. A good way to do some basic research and get yourself aquatinted with the car. But there is simply nothing that can replace looking at it, going over it in minute detail, stroking, touching and ultimately taking it for a test drive.

The Porsche guys and girls are very very good in my experience. I always make an appointment as you will be assured of their un-devoted attention for hours.

I spend about 4 hours with them, looking at the car, going through the configurator together so they could explain all the differences between the various options and features etc. Great experience! I had booked my test drive last year, but then Corona happened.

Two reasons.

First one no offence, but I always thought Connaught place was a bit of dump, with some western High End shops stuck into it. Not a particular pleasant atmosphere at all. The 1% have it all, showing off.

Secondly, parking was a pain. Obviously, parking anywhere in Delhi tended to be a pain. So you ask yourself the question, is it worth the hassle going there. My thought, when it came to Connaught place was generally no. Plenty of other very pleasant and interesting areas in Delhi. (some with marginal better parking too).

There used to be, maybe still is, a very interesting bookshop just off the main street, specialising in aviation books.

There used to be a very nice restaurant we got invited too a couple of times. Other than that is held no interest to us.

Each to its own.
