I'm no expert but this is what I could come up with.

• Approximate price for a decently kitted upper trim Lincoln Navigator in the US - $110,000 (86.9 Lakh)
  
• Tax on imported cars whose value is more than $40,000 - 100% (86.9 Lakh)
  
• Approximate shipping cost from India to USA - $3500 (2.76 Lakh)

You're more or less correct. There may be a few additional costs but overall it's in that ballpark. There were a couple of barely used, freshly imported Escalades for sale with used car dealers in the 2cr+ neighbourhood.

Do they convert these to RHDs and import or is there an exception to run LHDs. I thought only consulate cars could be run as LHDs..

As far as I know they are converted to RHD by specialist garages. I don't think the Navigator or the Escalade is available in RHD. However the Navigator pictured here could be a consulate car going by the number plate.

There are companies/specialist shops that specialize in converting LHD cars to RHD and vice-versa.

From what I know as civilian buyer you have 2 options for getting a LHD car into a RHD country like India.

1. You pay a company/shop that specializes in converting cars from LHD to RHD, this could be done in the country of origin (You pay a shop in the country of origin to convert your car from LHD to RHD before it boards a ship to India) or in the destination country (car goes from the port to a shop that converts the car from LHD to RHD before registration).

2. Buy the car from a specialized dealer like Clive Sutton in the UK. Let's say you go to a private import dealer and place an order for a RAM TRX Pickup Truck, most dealers will let you figure out how to get the car converted from LHD to RHD but some dealers like Clive Sutton offer this service in house. Which means if you mention that you want your car converted from LHD to RHD and pay the extra amount they will deliver you a RHD RAM TRX Pickup Truck.
