I too was loafing about there with my Dad.

We both like to take these drives together in one of the cars.

Having just performed the Oil and filters and brake pads change and general servicing of my Cooper last Saturday, I felt that it was necessary to give the car a ‘run’.

Oh how I love my Cooper’s exhaust sound!

I also did see the wondrous sight of a cavalcade of Porsches screaming by when I was parking for brekky at the A2B after the Nandi Hills Turn off.

And my little Cooper’s exhaust sound paled into insignificance in comparison to those!

Lovely, I have seen the photos of your father son duo on other threads as well! We are also a father-son duo but my son being a teenager, the bonhomie is still work-in-progress! I may have overdone when it comes to nurturing his interest in cars - he spends way too much time!

Thank you. I'm usually not that lucky to spot such fancy cars hence the excitement! I did get to drive along (mostly behind, lol!) and boy these cars are crazy fast compared to my humble base Carrera.

Should I have turned off the A/C for that extra boost?

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Annual service check-in:

Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)-servc.jpeg

VST Porsche has opened their new service centre near Phoenix Marketcity/Decathlon Whitefield. Looks like this will be a permanent setup for Porsche Bangalore as I have been visiting all their make-shift facilities during the past few years.

Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)-newws.jpeg

This is a routine annual service - mostly oil change. Parking brake had some slack and wheel alignment seemed a bit off - requested them to address both the issues. Even though the dealerships/workshops have changed few times (Friends Auto: Bimal Auto - Indira nagar, EVM Porsche: Raja Skoda - Doddankundi, VST: VW Victoria road, VST: Porsche Whitefield) - it's the same mechanic who has been servicing my car.

I checked the underbody to see how the car is holding up on our world class roads - bruised but not broken!

My kid tagged along hoping to see some cool cars. There was a new 992.2 going through the PDI and a 992.1 convertible that was being serviced.

Final damage to the pocket was Rs 60K.

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Amazing car! I agree with the kick-down part: I am a 12-year-old and love the feeling of kick-down. My father has a 2017 BMW X1, and the kick-down feeling is oof! I am saying BMW, thinking of how the same 2-litre diesel is tuned differently in different companies. +1 to the sound part. The 2.0 diesel engine SOUNDS LIKE A BEAST!

Spotted it the other day at the service centre. Looked absolutely stunning! A bit off topic, have you renewed the FC?

FC renewal is due next year. From what I hear, it should be a routine process.

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Ouch!

That is 8.5K for cleaning the air filter and 12.5K for alignment.

The Porsche tax seems to be more horrendous than the Apple tax. In the showroom everything is a paid options and at the service centre every service seems to be in multiples of cost of service of other manufactueres.

Air filter cleaning - 1X Cost of Suzuki Swift service
Alignment - 2X cost of Suzuki Alto service

But I guess the flat-six on an open road makes it all worth it.

Wow! I remember your Audi A4 to S class saga where the sales person treated your kids not well. Between now and then, time flies and your kid is all grown up to take your mantle forward. Happy motoring on the 911.

That's Shade Green Metallic, a standard offer color on the Type 992 Mark II. Looks real pretty!

Re: Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)

Surprisingly quite a decent pricing ( except Rs. 3K for disinfectant and Wax).
BMW charges similar figures for Wheel alignment and engine oil change. Mercedes charges similar pricing for more or less the same set of maintenance, so relatively normal pricing considering its a Porsche 911

Let me explain -

My colleague in UK just purchased this 911 GT3 RS used.

Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)-screenshot_20250321_085308_chrome.jpg

He went to Porsche service to get himself an extended Warranty for which Porsche ran a 110 point check list and triggered 1 alert due to which he was not allowed to buy Extended warranty.

The alert is a silly one. Turns out the previous owner painted the brake calipers the same shade of the car. This 'Painted' Caliper was the alert. Porsche says it cannot guarantee performance of car due this this painted part. It has been there 2+ yrs without failing but Porsche had to trigger something to avoid giving it.

Solution they cite - Buy new brake calipers worth 7000 GBP and then pay 3000 GBP for the extended Warranty.

My colleague happily showed one of his fingers and drove out.

In stark contrast, BMW has no issues giving him an extended warranty for his M5 despite mods.

Vroom for real - My used Porsche 911 (997.2)-screenshot_20250321_090212_chrome.jpg

So. How is Porsche service treating you?
