The 369 Garage
Gautam Singhania is a die-hard petrolhead who is fortunate enough to have the means to indulge in his passion. He has a tastefully curated collection that spans far beyond his 10 Ferraris, 6 Lamborghinis and 3 McLarens, to name a few. Singhania's cars are kept in the country as well as outside India, and are often brought here on carnet for his personal enjoyment, and ours too. He's the driving force behind the Mumbai Parx Supercar Show, which is one of the largest gatherings of exotic supercars in the country.
What's more, he also participates in the Ferrari Challenge, which is a motorsport championship for Ferrari owners. In addition to track racing, he also takes part in drifting championships as well as drag races. He
won the All Stars Drift Championship held in Malta in 2012.
Singhania's house in South Mumbai houses a multi-storey car park. Reports suggest it has 10 floors dedicated to his garage. If you're walking past his garage on a weekend night, you're sometimes treated to the echoing sounds of exotic V10s and V12 revving up inside.
Many of his cars are registered in Dubai as well as the UK and carry personalized number plates featuring his initials 'GHS'. Others have plates ending with the number 007, clearly showing that he is a Bond fan.
Here is a list of some of the cars in his garage.
Ariel Atom
A road-legal go-kart. The Atom features an exo-skeleton - you can't get more stripped out than this. Interestingly, the car began as a project by a Coventry University transport design student. One version of the Atom even got a 3.0-litre, 500 BHP V8 engine, and the latest generation uses the turbocharged engine from the Type-R. Also, how often do you see a
chauffeur driven Ariel Atom?
Gallardo Supperleggera
This is the facelift Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. The car, finished in Verde Mantis, weighs less than the standard Gallardo and gets a 5.2-litre V10 with an increased power output. The 0-100 km/h time is said to be 3.2 seconds. At the time of launch, it was the lightest road-going Lamborghini in the range.
Ferrari 348 TS
Another supercar that has been seen on multiple occasions in Mumbai. The 'TS' moniker indicates that this is a targa top bodystyle. The 348 has a 3.4-litre V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car was replaced by the F355. 4,228 units of the TS were built.
Lamborghini Gallardo
This is the first-generation Lamborghini Gallardo. The car has some custom orange bits and is powered by a 5.0-litre V10 engine.
Twin turbos have now been added to this supercar taking the power up to a whooping 1,600+ BHP. While this picture shows the car in relatively stock form, the wheels and tyres were later upsized to handle the additional power. The Gallardo went on to become the best-selling car for Lamborghini, until its successor, the Huracan took the title in 2019.
Ferrari 458 Italia
The 458 must be one of many enthusiast's favourite modern Ferraris and also one of the best looking Ferraris ever built. It gets a 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 that revvs to 9,000 rpm, with 0-100 km/h coming up in 3.4 seconds. GHS mentioned that one of the things that blew his mind about the 458 was how brilliant the suspension was over our broken Mumbai roads. This car is said to be the first 458 Italia in India.
Aero 3S T-Rex
The Aero 3S is a re-bodied version of the three-wheeled Campagna T-Rex, which has a straight-six BMW engine. Some units of the Campagna T-Rex have also used engines from Kawasaki, Suzuki and BMW bikes. The car is called 'Aero' because it is more aerodynamic than the Campagna T-Rex. This car has been seen at the Parx Supercar Show a couple of times.
Nissan Skyline GT-R
This is the R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R. The car has been modified for drag racing and produces around 1,000 BHP. The 0-100 km/h time is said to be 2.5 seconds while the 0-200 km/h is said to be 6.7 seconds (
videos here). There's really nothing on 4-wheels in India that can even come close to the sub-10 second quarter-mile time it pulls off (in Indian ambient temperatures, that too).
Subaru Impreza
One of the many custom modified drift cars that Singhania owns is this Subaru Impreza. This particular model is the facelifted version of the second-generation Impreza. The Impreza became popular globally among car enthusiasts thanks to its rallying heritage.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
One of the many JDM cars in his collection. We don't see this car around too often, though it did make an appearance at this
Chennai track day. This car is the EVO VI built between 1999 and 2001. Just like the Impreza, the Lancer Evolution became popular among enthusiasts thanks to its rich rallying heritage.
BMW M3
This E46 M3 drifter is custom-built and comes with a LS3 Supercharged V8 engine from a Corvette under the hood, mated to a Tremec transmission. The car, which rides on 17-inch wheels, comes with a roll cage, Magnaflow exhaust and achieves
mind-boggling steering angles. Few pictures of the car during
the early stages of the build were teased on Team-BHP.
Nissan Silvia
Another heavily modified drift machine. This is the S15 Silvia, the last generation of the Silvia, and comes with an RB26 engine producing around 530 BHP.
Nissan 240SX
Another member of the drift fleet. This modified 240SX is the first generation of the car built between 1988 and 1994 and gets pop-up headlights. This car and the M3 were seen drifting at the 2014 '
Will it Drift?' event.
Honda S2000
The S2000 is a popular 2-door front-engined RWD roadster built between 1999 and 2009. The car's popularity increased after it was used in the first Fast and Furious movie and is used by tuners the world over. It came with a naturally aspirated 2-litre engine that revved to 9,000 rpm and had an incredible specific output of 123 BHP/L.
Lotus Elise
This particular car is a second-generation model built between 2001 and 2011. It is powered by a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder Toyota engine. The car features a fibre-glass body and an aluminium chassis to keep weight and production costs down. Power steering was not offered and most variants did not even come with airbags. Thanks to the 860 kg kerb weight, its power to weight ratio made it a respectable competitor at the few drag races it showed up to, despite it being a car made for the twisties. Popular cars like the Tesla Roadster and the Hennessey Venom GT are based on the Elise. The Elise and the S2000 were almost like the "tester" cars for GHS before he started getting his *real* supercars into India.
Ferrari 458 Challenge
Based on the 458, the 458 Challenge is a racecar designed to participate in the Ferrari Challenge. The car is said to be almost as fast as the FXX around the Fiorano circuit. With the Evo upgrade, it is said to be faster than the FXX.
McLaren Senna
The Senna was brought to India for the 2019 Parx Supercar Show. The car, named after F1 legend Ayrton Senna, is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 789 BHP. The car was designed to achieve faster lap times.
Lamborghini Countach 25th-anniversary edition
Famous for its wedge-shaped design language, the Countach has adorned the bedroom walls of many enthusiasts over the years. This car was showcased at the 2019 Parx Supercar Show. The 25th anniversary edition features design changes done by Horacio Pagani and is powered by a 5.2-litre V12 engine.
LaFerrari
This hybrid hypercar came to India twice. The car gets active aerodynamics and has an F1-derived hybrid "HY-KERS" system, which combines the power of an electric motor producing 161 BHP and a 6,262 cc, V12 petrol engine that produces 789 BHP. The combined output of 950 bhp helps the LaFerrari achieve a claimed maximum speed of 350 km/h.
McLaren 720S
This car was seen on Indian roads on a number of occasions, and was the second 720S to enter India via carnet. The 720S was launched at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and comes with a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine. It comes with Variable Drift Control, which helps drift the car.
Ferrari 488 Pista
The 488 Pista is the performance-oriented variant of the 488 GTB. It gets a twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8 engine that produces 710 BHP that revvs to 8,000 rpm.
McLaren 540C
Based on the 570 range, the 540C is an entry-level McLaren focused on day-to-day usability and driveability. It is powered by a 3.8-litre V8 engine producing 533 BHP. It is said to have better ride quality compared to the 570S.
Ferrari F430
The 4.3-litre, 90-degree, V8 engine powering the F430 was an all-new unit from the Ferrari-Maserati F136 family. The car got a computer-controlled limited slip active differential and was also one of the first Ferraris to get adjustment dials on the steering wheel. The custom UK plates must make an impression when seen on Indian roads.
Ferrari 458 Speciale
The Speciale is the high-performance variant of the 458. It is one of the last mid-engined Ferraris to get a naturally aspirated V8 engine. The supercar gets side slip angle control (SSC) to improve car control at the limit. It was just 0.5 seconds slower than the F12 around the Fiorano test track.
Lamborghini Huracan Performante
The Performante is the lightweight, performance-oriented version of the standard Huracan. It comes with a 5.2-litre V10 with an increased power output. The Performante also gets Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), which is nothing but active aerodynamics. Note the cheeky plate that says 'KI55 GHS'!
Ferrari Testarossa
The Testarossa means 'red head' in Italian. Built between 1984 and 1996, it came with a 4.9-litre flat-12 engine. Some units came with a single high mounted side view mirror on the driver's side and it was called the 'flying mirror'. While this car has been spotted in Mumbai by several BHPians, pictures remain elusive.
Lamborghini Murcielago
This Murcielago is the LP-640. While the standard Murcielago got a 6.2-litre V12, the LP-640 got a 6.5-litre V12 that revved to 8,000 rpm. A LP-640 was also used in the movie 'The Dark Knight'. Check out the plates; 'UFO' is the perfect description for this vehicle.
Ferrari 355
Based on the 348 it replaced, the 355 received a bigger engine and design changes to improve performance as well as driveability. Over 1,300 hours of wind tunnel analysis is said to have been carried out while building the car. It gets a 3.5-litre V8 engine.
Ferrari 308 GTB
This 308 was bought at an auction and is said to be one of 154 cars built in right-hand drive configuration. It gets a 3.0-litre V8 engine. The car was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti, the same person who designed the Daytona and even the F40.
