i think i know some history about this car.if at all it is light green new beetle with 16" rims, yokohama tyres, no sunroof. here goes:
this car met with a bad accident in singapore.from where it was brought as junk. they patched up the car in an abandoned old workshop. then, got it registered. i'm damn sure the car's airbags don't work. it was in this condition when i saw it.

sachin's got a newer model than all the ones in this thread, it'a got 20" 5 spoke rims, they are gorgeous, the one's in the pics are all 18incher's

guys u have to face the fact that most cars and bikes are stolen and how:

in singapore bikes are rented, ridden straight to the docks, they pay the secruity $100 & load them onto the ships

i know for a fact in the uk and all across europe people chain their bikes with not one or two locks but more than 4 at times!a lot of bikes & cars are just picked up, once they reach the docks they can never be traced

singapore bangkok & dubai are bases where wrecked cars are done up & sold in india srilanka & pakistan

i had stumbled upon this site a few years ago, cars in japan & scrapped , and people change their cars every year, the site was selling completely refurbished toyota starlets 2.0 diesel power everything , with mags & a fresh white coat of paint for 500USD$ each & cheaper if you order container loads!

not stolen? mostly stolen! take choksey's 350Z for example, had done only 600kms. who wouls sell a car with only 600kms? i wouldnt & neither would any of you'll..... does have only one explanation...???

I totally agree, Godspeed. Have heard of one too many stolen-from-abroad cars being sold in Bombay itself.

I wonder if the law can ever catch up in this scenario.

Hey,

Is there any UNIVERSAL way to check the VIN, and the history of the vehicle?
I know that it can be done online for the US, but is there anything worldwide? do any manufacturers provide this facility?

Nope. One of the many ways to do it for American cars is via CarFax. . I think there is a way in the UK too, but none heard to far in Japan.

if people know the car is stolen/dealer is a crook then why do they buy from that same dealer again and again?
