Lots of loaded plutocrats in politics there I guess, notwithstanding their public stance of foreswearing capitalism in favour of the red idealism etc...

It is his personal car only. Before this he had a Merc ML. Which was also used as his govt: official car.

It's going to get worse unless the public start asking questions

Ok, then how does a personal car sport government plates? Anyway, they will need to remove the red lights now!

i am sure no changes will be made to the red lights or govt no. plates. Since he is a influencial minister, no law will be applicable to him

Re: Supercars & Imports : Kerala

Every time when i go to Bangalore airport, i saw some or other luxury super car waiting for a politician. So what we saw hear is not a big mistake except the number plate. Who knows it is allowed for vips to use official numbers to personal cars which is under official duty. We are deviating from the main topic of super cars here.

Usually, when a minister uses his personal or another private car as his official vehicle, the Tourism department (which allocates vehicles to ministers) issues an order (GO) to that effect. There is nothing irregular in it. I am not sure of this particular car, though.

And until Mr. Ganesh Kumar resigned as a minister, he also used his private cars like Passat & Volvo S60 as official vehicles, his father R. Balakrishna Pillai used his personal car instead of government owned vehicle. Likewise, another minister, Mr. Shibu Baby John, used to have a car taken on rent by his son for his official vehicle. Many ministers in Kerala also have lived in their own homes in the past, instead of official residences.

As per the Supreme Court, incumbents of constitutional offices may use beacons on official trips. Ministers usually use the red beacon only during night time after the pennant is folded at sunset. Only the Chief Minister usually uses the red beacon always, at least in Kerala.

And, believe me, people are generally very intolerant about this VIP culture in Kerala, so not many politicians actually flaunt their status. I have seen even autorickshaws taking their sweet time to respond to the frantic horn from police jeeps to let a minister pass. If the police try to charge the rickshaw fellow, then at least a dozen TV channels would take up the issue, and embarrass the minister concerned.

The London Taxi was featured in this thread too.

The Minister switched his Government allotted car for a Cayenne for conveying a message to the PWD Minister about of the pathetic road conditions.

Removing of red beacons - . I think I've read something like this in the AAP guidelines.

It is a sad news, and really miss the white beauty! We enjoyed listening to its loud exhaust 2-3 weeks back, as the owner's house is close to my wife's house. But didn't think it'd probably be the last time listening to that music... When I heard from a friend that it was sold, and a Bentley would be taking the position, I thought it would be a Mulsanne, as the owner earlier had mentioned about plans for buying a Mulsanne. Will post if I can manage to get some pics.
