That is not the producer's car, belongs to a jeweller. Its the only 4.8 X5 sold by BMW Kochi.

I met the owner a couple weeks back, couldn't click any pics then.

IMHO the rear wheels looks too small to be a V8 X5, AFIK X5 4.8i & 4.8is have really huge real wheels (probably larger front wheels as well), even the exhusts are bigger and alloysa re bigger (unless they sold V8 in this package in India). This one looks just like the 3.0L/3.5 V6 version.

I wonder why it has the smaller wheels, rims and exhausts then. Does not look like the V8 at all, is there so much difference in the V8 models abroad and in India or is it my eyes playing tricks on me?

Bro, the owner is a personal friend. It is indeed a 4.8i. And wierdly bigger wheels were not offered at the time of order. It has all other optional extras.

Is that a government registered number plate on the Jaguar? Can't make it out well. Nice color though. Anyone has the 5 liter turbocharged XJ in Kerala?

That's not Govt. plate, the car belongs to a University Chairman, he earlier had a 5GT which appeared in news cos of these plates. It was later proved legal.

Yes, there is a 5.0 V8 Jag XJ in Kerala, the Red R8 owner's silver XJ. He'll soon replace it with a Ghost.

Here is a pic of the University's XJ from my side,
