Spot on Rev! The Conti engine is fine for the Chinkara but not the GT40 (or its replica). I suggest an imported petrol 6 cyl. or a V8. Even one that has been phased out in Europe / US / Japan would do.
Among the current petrol engines in India, only Mercedes ones are good enough to give the GT40 performance to match its looks. But they are too expensive, too quite and simply too smooth to fit into a car like that.
The Conti's 1.8 Isuzu unit is just too old and too small.

Actually, the 360 Challenge Stradale seems to have outdone the '05 Ford GT. The Ferrari, though it put out something like 400 odd bhp, and the Ford something like 500,made the latter look like a lazy lump American muscle car. The Ferrari seemed to be much more road-focussed and sounded a lot better than the supercharged whine of the FORT GT...this is what I read in a recent article. Dippy's right, body is similar and it has a 5.5 litre V8 engine with an Eaton supercharger.
CHEERS.

I think you are talking about the Mustang GT. Cos the Ford GT40 costs $130,000+. Thats MSRP and theres huge premiums on this price if you want immediate delivery.

CHEERS.
If i may add that half of its engine is the one you get in Ford Lightning Pick-Up ....to be precise the, Block.

On the topic of someone getting 1 in India, I think it shouldnt be a prob price-wise cuz if someone can get a SLR then surely the GT can also be here given that it cost just a third of what a SLR costs.

Cheers!!!

The GT40 in Delhi is a replica car and not an original GT40. Was displayed at the Autocar India stall during one of the Auto Expo's.
