Guys,

Few days back when I was travelling to Mangalore, I spotted Batmobile. When I saw it for the first time, I couldn't believe on my eyes. I actually jumped out of the seat and started clicking the photos. Sharing a few of them - take a look at it.

I tried to search TBHP with 'Batmobile' but it didnt find anything. Hence starting a new thread.

This Batmobile replica is based on a Merc S Class.

It was on display during the Autocar Performance Show 2014 in Mumbai. Some pics of the same that I clicked during the show:

I think it isn't based on a Merc S class, actually it was supposed to get an S class drivetrain, from the buyer, for whom this was designed but it seems the designer did not stick to terms and conditions set by the buyer and the bat mobile never received the drivetrain. So this Batmobile is definitely one of its kind!

Met someone from the designer's team at an event a month or so ago and he mentioned that they did receive the S-Class later on and the work on the car is on. Maybe the on spotted in Pune by the OP has the drivetrain components and is there for delivery. Not too sure about it though.

This replica has been made by 'Executive Modcar Trendz' a modification firm based in Andheri East. My office is bang opposite to theirs and have seen this batmobile on display a lot of times.

I agree with this statement. No one has verified the claim that it's based on an S-Class. Looking at the dimensions of the car, the wheels etc. that surely doesn't look like an S-Class underneath.

Question is: there is nothing left of the S-Class (assuming he'd have used one). Why bother with such an expensive donor car? My guess is, this is a modification on an old body-on-frame vehicle, not a modern monocoque. If it's indeed an S-Class, then it must be one of the really old ones like the W126.

Good car for a rich batman fan to park outside his house, but rubbish otherwise.

They have confirmed that this batmobile replica is based in a Merc S Class (unspecified generation).

Project cost INR 25L.

Above costing hasn't been mentioned weather it includes the base car or not but as far as i know they were offering a similar modification for a Ferrari F430 replica priced @ 14L (excluding base car).

I spoke to a member from the 'Executive Modcar Trendz' at the Autocar Performance Show and he clearly stated that this car was based on a 2012 S-Class i.e. the W221. On first glance I though it would be based on a Tata 407 or similar rather than a German luxury sedan. Can't imagine why would someone want to do that to an S-Class

Edit: Just saw the video, this car is for a Pune based rich man's 4-year old kid! What an expensive toy!

Is this kind of modification allowed by the RTO? MH-14 implies Pimpri RTO.
