Happened at LeMeridian Hotel. Not sure whether the Valet crashed it or not.

Banging straight into a car or divider or pavement is understood, but ending up like this? Must have been quite hair raising to witness; was it on the main road near Big B's bungalow or one of the by-lanes?

I believe it's the MP regn Spyder which was recently sold to Kolkata.

Is it worth the time you save giving away the keys to such expensive cars to valets? I think not. These people obviously aren't used to driving such powerful cars and I believe its not right holding the hotel and staff solely responsible.

Here is a similar incident from the world's supercar capital, Monaco. If valets there couldn't tame such cars, it's only understandable the guys in here goes and stuffs it.

Ouch. An unexpectedly sharp clutch on a car with perfectly ordinary acceleration could lead to such a mishap, so it must be all too horribly easy with a monster.

It seems to be the elusive Bombay 560-4 Spyder which has been now sold.

A complete guess would look like an inexperienced driver just floored it.

However, the broken ORVM & scratches on the side (see below) make me wonder what else happened? Maybe there was another car on the right of the Lambo as it lurched ahead? Or is there more to the story?

And I agree with a comment above that a car this exclusive should not be handed over to just anyone except the trained . Hotel is responsible though that said because they know their clientele , they know the types of car to expect and so they should be aware of the limitations of their valets .

Does anyone knows though if hotel's have any possible accident caused by their valet covered under insurance ? I assume there must be some such insurance policy in place .

Nope nothing of that sort exists as far as i know. I have worked with hotels for a few years and have seen such incidents happen, the hotel generally does foot the bills so as to avoid bad publicity although at times they do try and get away with "valet parking at owners risk". I have handled many smaller incidents specially during big events and weddings when all hotels would hire drivers on an hourly basis who are mostly untrained young boys who are not even trained to drive normal cars forget expensive cars or super cars.

During my stint at one of the bigger 5 star hotels in Bombay a man who had just taken delivery of an A6 came to the hotel to celebrate the occasion with his family and while he was heading out after the meal, as he was crossing the automatic bollards (the heavy metal pillars that come up and go below the surface of the road and are installed in a lot of buildings these days for security reasons) the operator sitting in the control room got confused and raised the bollard as the brand new A6 was crossing it scrapping the under carriage, damaging the bumper, radiator and a few other parts. The hotel management initially tried its best to not take the blame for it but the customer went to press and eventually the hotel had to foot the bill for all repairs.

Untrained valets is also a major reason that generally you find such super cars always parked at the porch of the hotels itself.

Ouch! So many of the cool pics taken in other threads are cars-parked-right-outside the lobby of big hotels... I wonder what went wrong here. And adding to speculation, if the car hit head on to that brick wall, why are there scratches and right ORVM going limp? Some other angle to this accident is missing!

That makes sense, although I always thought they were there to add to the status of the hotel!

I do not like giving the keys of my humble Polo to valet parking staff. I can imagine that those with unique, let alone monstrously costly, cars might well refuse.

Extremely irresponsible of the hotel to have such a untrained driver. For starters:

1) Valet would have been fired by now.

2) The hotel would be calculating the losses that they shall be incurring just because of one mistake of a moron.

I have been to Le Meridien and the approach to porch is a bit tricky.

Can someone throw some light on an approx value of the repair for the damage?

Ouch! Untrained and unaware. This is the hotels mistake as they hire unqualified drivers and pay less. The valet will be known as 'the guy who crashed a Lambo' for the rest of his life.

From a laymans perspective, the damage seems repairable. But can't say as this is a sports car.

I avoid giving my humble Pulsar 220 to anyone who has not gone over 150cc since I had a few scary moments when a friend had taken her for a ride. It beats me how someone can hand over a car worth 4cr to a valet. (I know it is no comparison, but over-enthusiastic people screw up that too)
