I've heard of a few W221 S Classes getting a simpler after market suspension retrofitted in lieu of the Air suspension.
It isn't an easy task and I'm sure wiring harnesses, modules, etc. will have to be replaced as well but if one plans to keep the car for a long time, could be worth the initial outlay.

That being said, in the case of the w220 the air suspension was just one in a long list of niggles - especially the pre facelift variants.

One of my colleague here in US did that. He switched his air suspension to coil over and removed all the sensors associated with that. He said most of these engines are bullet proof but all the funky gadgets and sensors made these cars a timebomb after the warranty period.

Sometimes I really wonder why do these guys even buy the car? Only to be junked like this? The arrogance of having money may be one of the reasons and well, illegally obtained!

The last owner probably crashed it, may not necessarily be his fault that the car is in this situation.

After all, all wrecked cars (exotics or not) end up gathering dust in a police station or junkyard somewhere.

The story goes that the car was owned by drug dealer who was arrested recently and the car was confiscated by the cops.

Audi R8 supercar found abandoned in Goa

We rarely get to see high-end supercars on our pothole-filled roads. Only a handful of these cars exist in India, and one of them, an Audi R8, has been left abandoned in Calangute, Goa.

Pics: Imports gathering dust in India-instagramphotodownload.com_car_crazy_india_.jpg

The car has a damaged bonnet, a dislodged front bumper and a broken front headlight. The supercar is finished in white and has black wheels and red interiors.

From the comments on an Instagram picture, it is believed that this is a 2012 Audi R8 powered by a V10 engine. It is said that the car was involved in a drink and drive accident.

It is always saddening to see exotics abandoned like this.

Looking at the side air intakes, it seems to be a V8 version. The V10 has an additional outer curve on those contrasting coloured air intakes. The V8 had smooth/flush air intakes.

But regardless, its very sad to see such a iconic car in a state like this!

Doesn't seem like the same car. Check the ORVMs. Location also appears to be different.

Not the same car, this is a v10, the one in chiragM's post is a v8

Lifelong dream to own one of these. Want to build up one in Tempo Traveller & recent models (with sliding door) seems worth the setup.

Raab rakha.
