If it’s stuck at customs, I’m sure they’re demanding a good pay before this is released and owner seems to be not worried at all about this -

1) he could either be a filthy rich individual who owns a lot more exotics like this or

2) an individual who thinks he can buy another brand new bike here in India for the price they are asking to release it from customs?

Besides this, so customs involved more or less tells us this was got from outside country to ride it here? Not too knowledgable on this. Experts opinion awaited

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Been seeing an awful lot of early to mid-2000s German cars abandoned all around Mumbai. After the Covid-19 situation (and resulting economic pressures), I expect this to only go up.

An ignored E-Class on Marine Drive:

I think by 'Customs' the poster meant a workshop or garage that performs custom modifications on vehicles, not the customs related to imports. Please correct me if you meant something else.

Thanks

Heard from a friend that this bike was illegally imported to the country as parts and then assembled here. It was seized by the customs in 2017 and was supposedly put up for auction too. No info thereafter.

Is that a recent pic?

That's very much the customs related to imports.

*Menacingly looks out for abandoned W204s and F30s with evil intent*

2012 W204s and 2013 F30s still a little out of my budget but fingers crossed...

Nice elegant looking sedan. But registered with a different model, how is that possible sir ? Also many states don't issue "T" series registration, they keep is reserved for Temporary Regn plates. Secondly, its regn has expired in 2016. Unless someone took NOC beforehand.

Even I recently saw a car with a curious numberplate in Chandigarh which I had an intuition was seen on some other model way back. It was the old P** ** series of Heritage number.

Quick check on VAHAN portal and turned out to be true. Seems the software doesn't show updated data or I'm missing something.

This E38 has been lying there since a long time. Had seen it a couple of years ago when it was in a better condition (with s few parts broken). I believe it is just waiting for some parts- but I may be wrong. Hope the car gets back on the road.

The Malibu was in good shape a year ago when it was parked in this institute. It was then seen in a couple of garage's undergoing some work. Hope it's not neglected to the point of total deterioration.

Very strange ,the car seems too old but the number plate at the back is sort of latest series from district Sangrur in Punjab. Something seems amiss here.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Another luxo barge bites the dust. Spotted this Mercedes Benz S350 on SV Road Jogeshwari West.

Maybe, since it has not been used in a long time, the air suspension has sagged.
