Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

I remember seeing this car in this state since 2004. From a fb car page, I came to know that the owner is asking 10 lakhs for this car. I don't know how legit it is but I remember the car had a "govt vehicle" written on it.

I don't think it's been left to die, the tyres still have pressure as is clearly visible, it just needs wash.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Been seeing this Terracan here at the same spot since more than 6 months. However, it seems relatively clean so I assume it is still looked after by somebody, though certainly not driven. There may be an issue with its registration since it does have HSRP but details aren't available through Vahan

This Celica is a runner and belongs to a friend, it was parked there as he was not in town for a few days, i think he has recently decided to sell it as well.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Seeing this collapsed Audi in the same place since 3 - 4 months now. Location = Shivaji Park. In other news, am seeing an alarmingly high number of W203 C-Class' abandoned, all around Bombay. Guess it's at that point in its life when the repair costs far exceed its value, and the 2nd / 3rd / 5th owner doesn't give a damn.

I fail to understand how these beauties eventually land up in this condition? Neglect? Lack of funds to maintain? OR just squandering money!!

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Just a noob question, can't the cars with collapsed air suspension be restored by using any substitute non air suspension system and brought back on road.

Yes it is possible, some 80's Cadillacs are restored by this method, because the airmatic suspension parts are no longer produced.

I am happy to be wrong here. A car such as Celica is good when properly used.
Can we have more photos or perhaps a little insight into the ownership from your friend?

That's great. If some sharp minded person can apply simple techniques to bring these cars back on road and provide it to the masses at throw away price this can turn out to be a good business. Indians are very good at jugaad and it's in our DNA (which foreigners lack) so probably such problems in expensive cars can be solved by a simple and practical jugaad.

Not really, airlift has something for it.
