I think what he gave you is the old price. It used to be Rs 68 exshowroom Mumbai and then they increased it to Rs 78 exshowroom. A friend recently ordered a car and his comes to Rs 1.05 cr on road Mumbai.

They have only 2 cars in stock at the Factory. One is Red with Red interiors and the other is a white with red interiors. They are also giving some discount with it as they are not selling.

Read recently on quite a few sites (Top Gear, AutoCar UK, perhaps Motor Trend also) that the Boxter S for 2013 (981) is better balanced and maybe more fun to drive than its big brother the 911 (991).
If that is appreciated by our Indian Porsche aficionados, is it translating into greater sales of the Boxster and is it outselling the 991? Also, any idea on how the Boxster is faring sales wise via-avis the newly launched F type?

I have seen a minuscule number of 981 Boxsters on the road in Mumbai. I'm pretty sure its the pricing that has been the main reason. Blame it on the government, exchange rates or the manufacturer but the one crore plus tag just doesn't help it; have comparatively seen far more 911s on the streets cause when you are plonking down that kind of money, rather go all the way and get the iconic top of the line, heritage rich 911.

Someone from the dealership can please confirm but I guess they sell more 911s than the Boxster.

Re: Porsche Boxster S (981) in India

Rented one from Turo.

Damn thing is a go-kart!!! Beautiful chassis, loads of FUN, superb engine that revs so sweet that it makes Honda's Vtec feel like a Mahindra petrol. A driving experience like no other car. Makes a lot of sense for India where you can actually redline it (unlike a hyper 600 BHP supercar).

On the downside, I couldn't fit properly in the driver's seat. Need more room as I have a laid-back driving position (6 footers can forget about this car). Interior quality is very "meh" for an expensive coupé (or a "Porsche") and everything is a damn option. My rental didn't have Bluetooth audio or a reversing camera!

This thing left me sleeping with a . A fast go-kart for public roads is how I see her.

P.S. You can have a LOT more fun with such cars in India than the USA. Reason = the strictly enforced speed limits of America.

Not having to worry about driving history and all that is certainly a plus. Then again there are certain mountain roads where you may be able to get away with +20 over the limit. What city are you in?

Renting from Turo is awesome. I had rented a Maserati to attend a wedding. It was a head turner. The whole transaction on Euro was easy and awesome!

Boston. Also visited my Alma mater (Bentley University).

Would rather spend the potential speeding fine on renting another car.
