Chennai gets India's first new generation Porsche 911 (991).

This pic was put up by Madras Exotic Car Club.

Whoever brought the 991 here has sheer taste, man. Amazed with Porsche's evolutionary styling on what is the same 911 design. And it still looks contemporary enough!

Just hope this dude has gotten the 7-speed Manual :thumbs up (a dying breed of sports cars to still offer an MT)

Spotted a white one in Mumbai last week or so at Colaba. It was parked besides a white SLS and obviously the on-lookers were more attracted to the SLS. Nevertheless, the 911 looked hot:thumbs up.

I guess mlcarrera is mainly referring to the increase is the already absurd prices like a Nissan GTR when launched was available for very much sub 90 lakhs OTR in Mumbai. Now it is somewhere north of 1.30 lakhs.

The Cayman was very much sub 1 CR OTR Mumbai. Now the Boxster S is North of 1 CR with some basic loading. though the Cayman and Boxster S are very closely priced.

I guess your E92 M3 without discounts was sub 85 OTR when launched. Now the same is priced @ 1 Cr without discounts.

The E60 M5 was much closer to 1.1 Cr instead of the current near 1.5 Cr.

All is due to increase in some tax components and the depreciating rupee.

Absolutely, it's a function of the depreciating rupee and constantly increasing taxes, no doubt, but even before the prices were still absurd. However I must point out that you're well off on the price of the E92 M3, which was almost exactly 1C OTR Mumbai even then.

Well how much is the M3 right now negating any discounts on road Mumbai

The 911 must be close 1.5 Cr with basic loading. Not sure if it even makes sense at this price point.

Not entirely sure what the current M3 pricing is, though I would guess it's lower given that the model is coming to the end of its current cycle.

I'm with you 100% on the not making sense part. None of these cars is worth what we pay for them here, but it is what it is. The trouble with Porsche is that their business model is designed to rob you blind on accessories that should very much be standard equipment on high end sports cars. They know full well that nobody wants a stripper car when paying those sorts of prices so they totally rip you off. Hey, if the market supports it, why not, right?

The 911 is looking stunning and rightly said by GTO that it still looks contemporary. :OT The white Range Rover Evoque is also complementing the 911 with its white color and awesome presence. 2 beauties under one shed is a good view for car lovers clap:.

Another from Gujarat.
