Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Got it as a forward. Apparently a TCS guy got robbed at gunpoint at Wakad. Be careful guys!

~~
Hi Everyone,

With utter grievance and frustration,I would like to address you all towards my concern which happened Yesterday night 10:30 PM IST.

Here it goes: I was on my bike returning from TCS,Sahyadri Park Office towards my place in Kalewadi Phata. As I work in PNC and inside TCS,I am supposed to be in second shift and thus it was 10:30 PM when I was returning from office. When I crossed Hinjewadi bridge (just near BLACK DOG WINES),I got a call on my cell and just stopped for 2 mins to pick it up by the side of the road and by the time I just started speaking on my cell, two drunkards came in bike and they threatened me to give out all the belongings and stuffs with me.When I refused, they just pointed a gun on my leg and then on my back too. They took all the cash from my wallet(3000),my mobile and my helmet worth 2000.

It was really traumatic to be held at gunpoint and the coming back to my home after this incident.I filed a FIR for the same in Hinjewadi police Station and they called me to identify some faces in the afternoon.I am still in trauma that whether these faces will again target me or not.

I wanted to bring this to everybody's attention. This is again a shameful incident happened on safety regards.
It is risky to work in late hours and i would request higher management to consider this as a serious incident and take necessary actions on the same.
Also,Request you all to be extra cautious irrespective of being male or female associate.

This is utterly shameful act of robbery & that too on a busy road at 10:30 PM, which is not very late in the night. I can understand the guy's plight. I too work in second shift (01:00pm to 10:00pm) & reach home @ 10:45pm. The species of such hooligans is increasing by the day, what is happening to Pune. Don't these morons have any kind of fear of the Police or the Public in general? I guess looking at the gun he might have turned cold feet (numb) & they took full advantage of the soft target. I wish a little presence of mind, like hitting the helmet on the gun with full force, shouting for help, could have lead to an altogether different situation (I know it is easier said than done, but just thought of sharing).

Hope he gets over this trauma very soon & regain his normal life. Also hope those culprits are nabbed sooner & his booty is returned.

Rahul, its quite unfortunate that such incidents are occurring in Pune. Quite a statement of the desperation for a quick buck. I am glad that he escaped inhurt.

Finally there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. The gang involved in many theft & robbery cases in & around Hinjewadi is finally behind the bars. Police have arrested 4 members of the gang, recovered 6 stolen bikes & a cash of 169K from them. Further details in this below mentioned Sakal Marathi news bulletin.

eSakal - ???????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?????

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Today morning @9:45 am near Wipro phase 2 circle, a green tanker MH12F 5058 came onto the wrong side and started obstructing the traffic. I lost it and directly called police control room and gestured the same to the driver. He backed up a bit to allow the cars to pass through. Even though I was in no mood to let this guy off the hook, was perturbed by cars behind me to go on. I anyways got a bit ahead and gave the details to police control room.
Within 10 minutes I got a call back from police on my cell asking about the tanker and what did he do.

I said he obstructed the traffic on the wrong lane and hence I called up. The police asked whether he did anything else, then I said do we need to wait for more - what if he had acted like Santosh Mane, only then will they take action? Then he asked the vehicle number again and took my details as well, which I gave.

Lets see what happens.

Hey Rahul You just did this []. That must have been water tanker. Let's hope Police will educate them enough. By the way did you called control room or JSTF?

Isn't this a traffic behaviour lately? Although this was case of some obstruction, people nowadays honk in bumper to bumper traffic also.

I called 100 and later they called me from a cell stating I had called up control room and hence they came up with a patrolling vehicle.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

That robbhing incident is utterly shocking, to say the least Rahul. What has this commute come to now!
Guys, be careful while driving out of HJW at night.

On another note, I came in to office pretty late today, and the drive post 11AM is a bliss. No stopping whatsoever. Left my house at 10:45 and reached my desk at 11:05!

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

The need of the hour is to have better lights on the route. There are many areas which are dimly lit.

Guys its better to part with cash/mobile rather than risk an injury/death, since the natural instinct in such situation can be to revolt ( may vary from person to person )

My friend who was walking towards Chinchwad stn @ 8pm had his mobile snatched from his hands while he was answering a call, 2 guys on Suzuki access did it.

Also its better to take office cab and leave the car/bike in office if its too late.

Finally the small ditch like section which was running along the road ( just after hinjewadi chowk and going to Ph2 ) has been filled.

Re: Hinjewadi Traffic Issues

Folks - can we do something to the six seaters?
Hardly ever you would see six people in that contraption. Plus the amount of smoke if you are behind it is a killer.
I am seriously thinking of doing this - standing at the HJW or McD chowk with camera. click photos of those 10 or 12 seaters with police constable in the same image. Post it on the traffic police facebook page.
What do you say?

No use. Hinjewadi does not come under municipal limits (PMC or PCMC), hence no rules apply. Moreover how do you think they are operating so fearlessly here (over charging, breaking lanes, driving on wrong side). They have the blessings of the local corporators. I havent seen a single traffic constable stop them from driving on the wrong side

Yes it was quite bad today. Was on that stretch at 8.45 AM and the traffic extended all the way to the INdian Oil Pump.

Even the extra lane on the opposite side was packed. So what do people do. Create one more lane next to the barricades right upto the chowk. First to start were the bikers who were then followed by six seaters. If that was enough we had taxis (Sumos, Indicas) and finally we also had educated folks in their cars joining them on the wrong lane. People will never learn.

I could see buses coming from the opposite direction struggling to navigate through the sea of vehicles in front of them. I though one of the bus drivers should transform into Santosh Mane and crash against all the vehicles coming from the wrong side. I know this is taking to the extreme. Sorry about that but could not resist sharing what crossed my mind.
