My sincere advice to all the Bangaloreans here who have 'work from home' option - today's the best day to take it. If you don't have the option, apply sick leave. Your manager will surely understand the situation! I use the company transportation usually but today I had to drive to work. Oh, I use the ORR to get to Whitefield by the way and needless to say, it is a mess!!! Water everywhere, potholes are covered with water which makes it very dangerous to commute. I left at 6:00am today so I escaped the mad rush hour traffic. God save the people starting now!

At least in north BLR it rained hard for most of the night. Hebbal a solid mess as usual.

Every one drive safe! Watch out for aquaplaning on the ORR & Bellary Road - there are treacherous sheets of water due to the terrible drainage and road design in many places. Keep speeds below 60 just to be extra cautious.

Wheelers road jammed from St Johns road signal to ITC flyover. Assayee road jammed because of a fallen tree and all surrounding roads affected.

Like others mentioned, no point heading out burning fuel and patience. Heck I can't step out of the gate now!

On old airport road between Domlur and Command Hospital,has become one-way due to a tree fallen & making it one way ( if travelling towards MG Road). Expect a pile up as traffic picks up.

Started this morning from my place near Meenakshi mall on BG road....somehow managed to reach Vijaya Bank Layout but then got to know most of the access roads towards Bommanahalli were flooded. Considering my final destination was the dreaded Ecoworld on ORR and inevitable 2-hour return journey in the evening, I came back home. Bangalore is lucky a significant percentage of the population can afford to work from home otherwise the city would have come to a complete standstill.

Thanks to porschefire's post, I ended up firing away a 'work from home' mail and have stayed home.
At 8AM, I received an email from the company's transport department that they are anticipating delays with the 11AM-login cab service.
Aside from how 'clever' the mail was, I do have a gripe with the way pretty much every IT company in town is behaving.

Fully aware of the road conditions in Namma ooru, why don't the companies proactively send out an email stating that people who are not working in functions that require their physical presence in office and/or do not have any business critical requirement to be in the workplace today, choose to work from home?

I spent nearly 4 hours in the cab during my morning commute yesterday. If one were to assume that an average individual is productive only for 20% of their time at work; that's still 48 minutes of productivity lost.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...
The IT companies in Bangalore need to start implementing some measures
as inaction is certainly not helping anyone.

Started from home some where near JP Nagar 9th Phase @ 7:15 AM. Haralur road was a mess thanks to the school buses. Reached Bellandur @ 8: 45 AM. Too much water logging everywhere.

Better to take leave and snuggle away!

Started from ananth nagar in Electronic City by exactly morning 7:30 towards Manyata. Electronic City toll requires submarines at the time of down pours. And at 9:39 I am stuck at Sony signal, Koramangala. This will be the most horrible mistake of my life, deciding against work from home. And there is no point in going back as again to cross Electronic City toll, I will take 1-2 hrs.
