Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Quick Query: While driving back from airport last night, I encountered an insane number of diversions right after taking a left from Hebbal. One of them was due to an accident. The rest appeared to be metro work related. Is it the same story every night?

Which ones of these diversions need to be taken during the daytime? The one near Bagmane and Marathalli ones seemed like permanent diversions.

Yes, after around 10pm the main carriageway of ORR almost all the way from hebbal to silkboard is closed for the metro work. Traffic is routed through the service road which means there are mini jams all through due to the truck traffic and is fairly unpredictable. I have taken 1.30 hrs+ to reach Belandur from airport even at times like 2am. Now I just ask the driver to go through the city.

After 10pm it is advisable to go through the city and not take ORR especially to areas past KR Puram.

Metro workers hard at work all night, while rest of the city sleeps. See the video in the below tweet for a timelapse video:

Exactly how bad is this?

I took the Thalli Road-Andhivadi-TVS Factory-Attibele route last weekend. But traffic is slow moving on this route as well. So am trying to find the worth of taking the detour.

Besides both roads from Hosur railway station to the Ring Road are dug up and I had to detour even further to reach my destination on Rayakottai Road.

I am yet to check it on my own, but the chatter in telegram group is it's causing quite a delay especially during school timings. The route you took is now the default route for most of the Hosur residents as the railway station road has been dug up and it's affecting people commuting from Denkanikottai, Mathigiri and nearby areas to Hosur and vice versa.

It's been one of the best week and a half for commute. I have been taking 1/3 of the time I normally take to get to work and back. Not to mention that this has been the most productive few days at work for me too. Coincidence? Not quite.

It used to be the same even pre-covid. Dusshera/Diwali/Christmas-New year weeks usually see many people taking leaves ofcourse for the festivals plus one usually wants to finish off the leaves before they lapse at end of the year. It leads to way lesser traffic than normal. This week ideally should be relatively light considering most would be returning by end of the week.

Yup. I am currently on 2nd shift(twice a week work from office) & used to leave after 10PM initially but looking at the service road jams have started leaving by 9:30PM these days to beat the main-carriageway closure.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

We’ll always be Bangalored in this Traffic Quagmire as long as we live because our Infra growth will never catch up let alone keep pace with the growth of the human and car population.

Let’s therefore shrug off the inevitable and have some lighthearted smiles by enjoying these lovely situational renditions of traffic in the World of Tintin.

Yes, this is for a small stretch and can be managed easily.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

North Bangalore folks, did you notice the impact of opening of the Phoenix mall of Asia adjacent to the L&T Raintree Boulevard. Man , the Byatarayanapura Amruthahalli belt has gotten chaotic - almost like a video game from all sides. Thick red this evening getting back to Jakkur.

Last evening I saw many mall goers parking alongside the GKVK side road almost till the Sahakarnagar Railway underpass.

Yes. Yesterday, the choke held traffic for close to 30 min and today for almost 20! We had airport duties to attend to, and this caused quite a heartburn!

I really don't know where we are headed, this part of Bangalore was saner now falling rapidly into the pit.

I reside at Jakkur and have to drop my kid for her dance classes at Sahakarnagar (close to BWSSB facility) few times a week. I started taking the straight forward kodigehalli route last year, that was getting messier due to auto stand, folks coming wrong side and long signal wait times. Moved to the longer route via the turn to service road at Byatarayanapura junction since last few months, of late it is getting to near impossible to take a sane turn. Water lorries, newly opened Darshini customers vehicles parked adhoc and now the great mall, free for all.
