Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Does the virus spread only between 10PM and 6AM?

Jokes apart, I do not understand how the night curfew will help in reduce COVID 19 spread when 90% of the population are already in their homes, sleeping during the time period

Earnestly hope that past learnings are not wasted in these exercises. Just don't want to go through the same experience that we have been through this year.

Lot of clubs had started planning New Year Eve parties, before party and after party. They will have quite a bit of parties on X-Mas too, and hence quite a bit of gathering. I can already see places choked, this would just make it worse.

I think it's a good call, since they could not find a compelling reason to stop the parties and get together, they have probably masked it using the new strain as the reason.

I believe it is true as all regional news channel are airing the news. Also I saw a clip which had our CM mentioning about it.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Basically a move to try to curb new year parties. Earlier there were talks of pubs and restaurants being allowed to function with 50% capacity which everyone know is completely a joke to enforce but this looks more like a preventive measure.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

There's been a change in the Karnataka night curfew timings, 11pm to 5am is the revised timing for curfew.

Night curfew in effect from tomorrow (Dec 24). The night curfew will not affect Christmas midnight mass.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Commuters of NICE road may kindly be aware of this. I know someone who has personally encountered this and his windshield broken.

It’s not a very NICE thing for motorists

Quote:
The clip is a first-person account of a driver, who says that his car windshield was broken when a gang standing on a bridge hurled stones, as he was travelling on NICE Road at around 3 pm. Simultaneously, he says he and his driver noticed a group of people waiting nearby, probably on the pretext of helping the driver of the car whose windshield had broken. But he says their real reason is to rob the driver. The man in the audio clip says his driver suspected something was amiss and did not stop. He warns other people to be aware of such gangs.

The viral audio clip has reached the police and they have stepped up patrolling. “The long stretch of NICE road falls under four city police station jurisdictions - Electronic City, Hulimavu, Girinagar and Thalaghattapura police stations. We have stepped up patrolling in and around NICE Road, especially on the bridges that cross NICE toll road,” said Ramappa Gutther, police inspector of Thalaghattapura police station.

An audio clip has been going around about this.

There is more to the story. NICE calls him as a prankster

More than the robbers themselves, the entire NICE road is daylight robbery in itself. It is one of the costliest roads in India and with substandard quality.
It's been a year since the tag readers are installed and still they have not implemented Fastag.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

All said and done , there are things that the NECE management must work on.

1. 530 am on Wednesday , the edit towards Hosur has just two booths working leading to a long Q of trucks and cars. I wonder why.
2. You pay through the nose on what is probably the highest toll per KM in India
3. It’s been years that the country moved to Fastag. NICE introduced a gimmick on their own where you park your money for tolls but with no discount. Wonder what’s the point. I know of some of my colleagues who used to load 1000’s for the entire month. This wasn’t faster to enter or exit in any ways.
4. They still do the Cash system. Though they accept cards , but it does take seemingly time.
5. The entire stretch of NICE is not Lit. Quite dark. Again , no intent from them to make it convenient.
6. Some stretches are just not safe. The undulations are crazy. While crossing the Bannerghatta exit towards Tumkur Road , the fastest lane suddenly narrows down. A first time user in the fast lane will go through shivers

Overall , these days, it does give one a feeling of getting fleeced at NICE. Sorry for the rant.

And the latest update is that the night curfew is revoked. Wonder what goes into the decision making process...

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Looks like that dreaded MES flyover and approach roads (near Goraguntepalya ORR) has been substantially repaired and renovated. However, the width of neither have been increased which is the real need of the hour.
