Oye dynamite how you doing now, will call you sometime take care sankar :)

Sankar, i am really sad to here this but on the other, i am very very happy that you are recovering soon. I pray to god for your speedy recovery.
Get well soon.

Good to know you are better. What happened to the zma? I know your optimism will make up for the lack of 100% pre-accident physical fitness.

Pradeep, i guess you know :)
Anand, thanks for the wishes buddy, didn't know you were here in Tbhp.
Sarayu, Karizma was repaired and then sold off. The repair costed 50% of the bike when i bought new, insurance paid up almost 50% of the cost of the repair thanks to lots of plastic parts! It was sold for an amount slightly lesser than te amont paid for the repairs. Good to know that you're here :)

Hi Sankar,

Nice to hear that you have recovered well. Did you file a case with MACT and claim damages to teach these fellows a lesson?

They put me on a ventilator and two tubes were inserted into my left and right chest cavity. One to drain blood and another for air. 3 ribs were broken and lungs were punctured. Limp legs were traced to two broken vertebra and spinal shock. Operation was scheduled for 18th and after a 6hr long operation and 2 titanium rods and 8 titanium screws my spine was stabilised. Next day right leg showed signs of movement, left leg has very slight movements. Its improving but. Docs say i will walk in another 6months after rigorous physiotherapy.

So sad to hear that. And do not miss any Physiotherapy session. Good luck.

:) Thanks mjothi. Physiotherapy helped a lot to bring me back. I'm not undergoing any physio sessions since almost an year now. I wish to start it again. I know its not the ideal thing to do, but better late than never.

I'm extremly glad to know that you are back on track Sankar. :thumbs up.

Well.. I know a neighbor who met an accident in an 800 and came out of the hospital in a Verna. Considering your age, if you deal it well, I hope you know the outcome. ;)

Let the best times be ahead of you.

Sankar, it's really good to see you getting back into action, even if gradually. I can only imagine what it would be feeling to start walking, sitting again after so long.

May God Bless you and wish to see you in action soon.

It happened in 2009, and i'm much better now. All those things when i look back sort of feels like a dream, its feels surreal while recollecting all those events and when thinking about what we all went through for me to reach till here. God did bless, thanks to everyone who prayed for me, on this forum and off this forum.

Hi Sankar,

Glad to know you're recovering fast!

No matter how good driver you are, you just have to be extra careful with commercial vehicles. Such vehicle drivers are usually under pressure to do more with lesser time and are always on a race against time. Being overstressed and with lack of sleep, their concentration on the road may wane often, hence such accidents occur. You should also be extra careful with call-center drivers.

Do understand they have nothing to loose. Even if they compensated you for 10 generations, it would never equal the pain and worst of all, the disabilities you may suffer.

Another potential are men/teenagers with ladies/girls behind. Those are mostly show-offs, so stay far from them!

Also driving between Monday to Friday is often less riskier because most of the traffic is from working professionals who are more careful. However, come to the weekend, you may have several novice drivers, some ancient cars which may not even be road worthy, bad drivers, weekend drivers etc, so the risk rating goes five fold, from my experience.

So, my suggestion would be to program your mind so that you have week-day driving mode, week-end driving mode, night/day driving modes etc., for your own safety. That's my practice. :)

Cheers!

Nitin

(In a sarcastic vein,) I am sure that the touts and / or the ambulance chasers got there before the doctors. If indeed you did, I am sure that it would be stuff for a good thread.

Which fellows are going to learn what lesson from where???

Damages for the MACT claim will be paid by the insurance company. The owner and driver would never even know that the case existed.

At the criminal trial, the driver, will, in all probabilities, pay up couple of Ks as fine and walk away. If he really has long strings, he will get a lawyer to do this for him (possible, with some judges).

If there is a lesson to be learnt, it is this - if you are on Indian roads on a two wheeler, it is a question of when, and not whether.

I do not mean to hurt, just the harsh reality of life, learnt the hard way.

Hi,

How are you doing now? im sure the good wishes of TBHP family helped.

do keep us posted.

Thanks.

It has been a long long time since I updated this thread. I sincerely thank all of you for the wishes and the wishes did work. I composed the first post of this thread from my hospital bed in a non motive state and i recovered (only due to god's grace) this much when at that time doctors were not sure of my future and whether i will walk again or not. My father went through a lot during those days and his non-sympathetic attitude towards me helped. I sure do miss him.

What happened 9 years back was a life changing incident. The psychological and physiological change that happened is not 100% reversible which means there is no going back to 100%. Like how the body has changed the mind has too. There was and there is a lot of getting used to be done and it is a constant process. Never give up.
