This is really a bad experience man. Sorry to see the cars with black patcehs on them.
Will insurance cover these kind of damages?
Oopsss!!! Thats bad buddy..... Have you spoken to your insurance agency for damage claim?? And the yellow stains mentioned is normal but I realy doubt whether the discoloration would go? And frankly I would have loved to bash him black n blue had I been in your place.

What a horrible thing to happen!! Lucky that the fire did not spead - the damage looks negligible under the circumstances!

My sympathies. But this left me speechless. Such a happening as this in the safe confines of your house. And that damage to your house. Unbelievable.. BTW, did you follow up with the cops to see that the culprit is not released, but put in an asylum...
Buddy, I am feeling very sorry for you. Luckily, by the grace of God no one was injured by the fire and no one's house caught fire.

During the weekend, I washed the cars with car shampoo. After trying paint thinner/remover (turpentine), although it did remove the burn stains, I realized that it is leaving a brownish-yellow stain of its own behind. Decided to use a milder, clear solvent - the answer industrial-grade Acetone.
Acetone did the job beautifully in removing gray and brown stains off the Palio. Only the yellow stains, which appear to have embedded themselves inside the clear coat remain. Also could remove the molten plastic stuck at places by scraping it with my nail. However, this job requires immense patience and care. Will complete that job in installments!
As of now, the Palio looks as good as new with some spots on the FR door. Will be replacing the door strips (black mouldings), the door handle, and the window glass rubber, which suffered burn damage. That should sufficiently restore the car. When I check with local dealers for these parts, none of them had it. On calling Wasan to check if they have it in stock, they said I'd have to get the car to the showroom and only then can they place an RO.:Shockked:
The Zen isn't so lucky. The stains are more severe and the paint has bubbled in one place. Also, the bumper has burn marks that have penetrated the paint and exposed the black bumper below. As someone mentioned, I will be going for a putty + touch up job for the Zen.
Will try and post pictures of the cars post Acetone treatment.

But like everyone has said, get the car painted. Is this the MJD you bought recently ?

But thankfully, the damage isn't too much. Saw another thread where someone's Swift had an engine bay fire in Cochin. My cars would have had the same fate if not for the quick thinking of the residents.
On a lighter vien, I was always skeptical about mixing Acetone in Diesel or Petrol. Now, I found how I can use it :D
