The HSRP number plates have been compulsory in delhi since 2015 or 2016, all the vehicles since that time already come with HSRP number plates.

However these days i am seeing a lot of car accessories sellers who earlier also used to install number plates, also having almost same number plates as the HSRP ones. The only advantage with them is no need for online booking, just go and get the plates fixed.

If a manufacturer is involved in the implementation, what about the OEMs who left India like GM?

Is it also applicable for 2-wheelers? My active is 17 years old but running well.

The responsibility of older vehicles lies with the owner and they will have to get it done through an RTO agent. The manufacturer / dealer is responsible only when they sell a new car.

Last I read was that the App and the portal shall be made live soon but not able to find that yet.

Wish that is now live so that I can get this done away with on my own.

Thanks. Do you which RTO do you work based on - the one where the registered address is or the one based on the registration code?

My car is MH02 xx ##### but my registered address is in the Mumbai Central (MH01) RTO jurisdiction.

Quite a painful process - given the MH government has in any case wasted 5 years, the better approach would be to skip making this compulsory for older cars.

Better approach should be to make it mandatory when renewing the RC after 15th year of the car. That way it can be managed better with tapering demand.

A question - my car is a pre 2019 registration, presently in TN. Is it possible to get it "attached" outside MH?

EDIT: I tried to get it home delivered, so that I can get it installed from a center nearby, but its not allowing it.

Does anyone know what is the process for RTO registration and residence differences? My car is registered in my hometown which is 400 kms away. I tried on the link to register for the HSRP in the town where I live but it rejected my request.

Is it mandatory to get these HSRPs from their vendors? Can't I get it from any other vendor near me and install it?

Best to reach out to the vendor via phone and email. They are prompt.

I have a car with different registered address and rto registration location (shifted my residence after 5 years). The website linked me to the correct vendor, however, I had issue in booking appointment (page was constantly hanging). Connected them via phone and email, and had the matter resolved.

I got HSRP plates installed on my 2006 Swift yesterday. Below was my experience.

1. Booked the HSRP plates via https://www.mhhsrp.com/# on 8-Jan-2025. Paid a total of Rs. 879.10 on the portal through credit card
2. Sleected Sai Service (Nexa, Baner Road, Pune) for the fitment as that was the closest to my house. Selected 16-Jan, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. as the date and time for getting the plates fitted.
3. Called the Affixation Center on 16-Jan and confirmed that the plates were already there.
4. Went to the center a litttle after 2 p.m. Had to wait for about 15 min since it was their lunch time.
5. I had to hand over a printed copy of the receipt. Soft copies would not work. Got the plates fixed in about 5 minutes.
6. I opted for the Black Plastic Frame which cost an additional 499 which I paid to the center directly after getting the plates fixed.

Positives

1. Navigation through the portal was easy
2. Fitment process was smooth and quick

Negatives

1. After making the payment, the page showing the order ID came up blank. Luckily, I received an SMS a few minutes later that had the order ID. Another way I found to get the order ID was to try and raise a grievance. When you enter the vehicle registration number on the grievance page, it automatically shows the Order ID. You need the order ID or the initial SMS to download and print the receipt.
2. There was no SMS received once the Plates were received by the fitment center. At least one of my friends did confirm the receipt of such an SMS. If you receive no SMS, it would be better to call the fitment center to ensure that your HSRPs are available with them before proceeding to get them fitted.
3. Most of the standard operating procedures were not followed by the fitment center.
   1. The fitment center did not verify the chassis and engine number against the receipt
   2. The person doing the fitment asked me if it is okay to use screws/bolts to fit the plates. HSR Plates have to be mandatorily fixed using rivets only. I asked the person to use rivets and he did.
   3. The center handed over the old plates to me without destroying them.
   4. The center did not apply the Color Coded Third Registration Sticker on the windshield. They were handed over to me.
   5. After affixation, the unique laser printed numbers along with photos of the vehicle with HSRPs are to be updated/uploaded on the VAHAN portal by the HSRP Manufacturer/fitment center. I did not see this happening. Need to see if there is a way to check this on the VAHAN portal

For my newer vehicle that was bought in 2022, it came fitted with the HSRPs. However, there was no Third Registration Sticker. The dealer told me that they were not fixing them and probably threw those away. When I checked the vehicles in my society that came with HSRP from the dealer, I only found one vehicle which had the sticker. So, it looks like most dealers were throwing away the stickers or may have handed them over to the owner without telling them what it was.

^ Point no 5 only completes the HSRP process. When I dud for my KA registered vehicle in Bangalore, dealer didn't bothered initially after fitment. I guess they have around 90 days to close it. Suddenly I got call and WhatsApp from the dealer who installed to get photos of vehicle showing HSRP installed and followed up few times.

Once I gave the pictures, within a day received message from Rosemerta that HSRP details are captured in Parivahan against my vehicle. I suspect they will release the fitment charges to dealer only after this step.

I was able to complete HSRP fitment this week for our 2015 Car. Fortunately for me MH05 & MH14 fall under same zone so I applied to fit the same in MH05 area and selected Regent Honda service centre, Kongaon, near Kalyan.

I went there at scheduled appointment date & they fixed it quite professionally. Having a non Honda car I had never experienced their service but I could see happy customer faces in my brief interaction with some of them.

Here are few photos of the fitment. I would recommend everyone to take an appointment ASAP & fit the same. The deadline may extend but as of now it is 31st March 2025 & by completing this early, you can avoid the last minute rush.

Can you tell more details about the plastic frame which you opted for ? Is it similar to the one in non HSRP cars. Also is applying such frame legit ?
