Update:

I have added IHMCL to my email chain while sending it to the Paytm guys, luckily, they have forwarded my email to Paytm stating, “Kindly assist the user,” and voila, my account has been closed now. They have also refunded the full amount.

I am done with Paytm and have uninstalled the app already.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

One single window/wallet for multiple fastags:
I have multiple car fastags from paytm. It is very convenient to just recharge paytm wallet and all the fastags were able to use this common wallet. I didn't have to recharge individually. Moreover, auto top-up facility via UPI made sure paytm wallet never went below Rs. 500 or 1000 as per requirement.

Can this happen in HDFC? Or perhaps Airtel fastag? Or any other option? This convenience is crucial with multiple cars using multiple fastags.

Now, Paytm is offering fastag via HDFC. Can those be connected to Paytm wallet? Or paytm wallet will be closed altogether?

Edit/update:
It seems airtel fastag provides auto top up facility via Airtel thanks app. I checked their FAQ.
Now, I don't know but anyone who has used Airtel fastag can confirm if multiple vehicles can be connected to the same wallet for seamless usage.
BTW, I am already airtel mobile user so I am already on Airtel Thanks app.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I applied for the ICICI Fastag yesterday and will close the Paytm tag once I get it. I was planning to get the ICICI Amazon Pay Fastag, but since it’s linked to Amzaon Pay wallet, I went for the regular one.

I believe ICICI Fastag has all these options.

Yes. I was waiting to get this clarified and it seems clear from the RBI’s the FAQ.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Have had some bad memories of ICICI bank and their coercive policies. Hence, staying clear of ICICI bank for at least 14 years running.

I am hoping, somehow, Paytm wallet doesn't go away. Modi ji, please intervene and get things resolved for the millions of us Indians

My paytm fastag closed last night and I got Rs.400 refund.

I think 6 days to close and refund is ok without ANY follow up considering other members who had to face delay and had to do follow up.

I spoke with an Airtel Fastag agent near the tollgate, and they confirmed that we can use the same single Airtel wallet/bank account for multiple Fastags. The only drawback is that there won't be a separate log for each vehicle; all the expenses will be listed back to back, and we have to separate and review them if required. Apart from that, yes, after Paytm, only Airtel is offering the same concept of a wallet-type recharge for Fastag.

I shot Airtel customer care an email about the same thing couple of days back, but it's like they're speaking a different language. They just couldn't catch what I was asking and hit me back with a request for screenshots and elaborate the issue. The product seems cool, but dealing with customer care is a bit of a letdown.

I have used the below email ID for Fastag communication. You need to provide a ticket number in the email chain that you have raised via the mobile app.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I initiated the closure of the PayTM Fastag. On the same day, I also applied for Amazon Pay ICICI tag. Got the ICICI tag delivered within 2 days.
But, I waited for the PayTM tag to get closed, before starting to use the ICICI tag. On NETC website, I could see two active Fastag against my car. So, didn’t want any confusions at the toll gate.

Why Amazon Pay ICICI tag?
- Amazon Pay card comes with an extra advantage of 1% cash-back.
- ICICI allows adding and managing multiple tags in one account.
- Auto-recharge is possible if you have ICICI savings account.
- However if one doesn’t have ICICI savings a/c, they can still set UPI standing instructions.

How was the closure process of PayTM Fastag?
PayTM tag was finally closed on the 7th day after raising the closure request. Although, their FAQ says that it would be closed in 3 days. Had to do a few followups on X. Their customer-care number is of no use these days. The waiting time is huge. I called their number 3-4 times. Waited for 10-15 mins but never got through to a human. On the 7th day, I was delighted to finally see the status as ‘closed’. ₹400 was refunded back to wallet, which I immediately transferred to my savings a/c.

I have lost all the trust on PayTM now. I tried closing the account but now they are not allowing that. The page is consistently failing. This entire episode has shown that how PayTM functions. Even though it came under regulations, it didn’t comply with the laws and rules. How can we trust our money to such organisations. I will avoid any relations with PayTM in the future, doesn’t matter how easy to use the app is.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Paytm is now asking to close the tag. I applied for ICICI FasTag via Amazon Pay and received yesterday. I will be closing the tag after today's trip.

Based on some reading, I believe one can port the Fastag from Paytm to another provider. Anyone tried this ?

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Fastags are not interoperable, says RBI

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/.../107778566.cms

The option to deactivate PayTM fast tag is available in app but its not available easily.

Here are the details -

Open PayTM App and Tap on - Profile button on top left - Help & Support - Banking Services & Payments - Fasttag - Chat with us - Queries related to updating Fasttag profile - I want to close my fasttag

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I see some companies such as ICICI and IDFC First Bank advertising their Fastag as Triple Benefit supporting - Toll, Parking and Fuel Payment as well.

Is this common across or do some Fastags come with additional features as claimed? I have used my Paytm Fastag for Toll and Parking - never used it for Fuel Payment and was not aware of such a feature.

ICICI Fastags can be used for fuel payments. There might be few more but not all fastags can be used for fuel.
