Seems like currently, there is high demand for FastTags from all vendors, mainly due to Paytm. If you have friends traveling on the highway, advise them to purchase FastTags from the sales point near the toll gate. These vendors activate the FastTag instantly and provide it to you on the spot. All you need to do is open the app and keep it at home, and your friend can complete the process instantly.

I am not sure if any other provider gives a similar feature.
HDFC for example has one wallet ID which you can link all your Fastags to, no need for separate recharges for each car. As long as your wallet has balance it would be hassle free.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

paytm was the best of all worlds for a FASTag. A single wallet which is not directly connected to bank account ensured a safe wallet, it could be used for all purposes from food to tolls was an amazing service to the customer. I doubt if we have any such providers in the market today. I have all our vehicles under the same wallet, so I will wait and watch.

ICICI and some other private banks have the worst customer service at least from what I have seen in my circle. It’s a simple proposition when it comes to FASTag, most banks take up to 24 hours to resolve any matter so if you are outside a toll booth on a long drive and need support, you are in for an expensive ride if your FASTag has issues. In such cases, common sense would dictate to buy a new FASTag at the toll and get the balance transferred, so the loss you would incur is limited to the cost of the tag Rs100, instead of paying double at every toll. I faced this with ICICI a few months back. So, my point is every FASTag would work fine if it works, so buy from SBI or some thug life private bank it doesn't matter, the day it stops, and you need support on the highway is all that matters. paytm was great from all perspectives. I hope things work out good for them. If things turn sour, I'm all ears for any provider who can replace paytm with ease of use and flexibility.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

PayTM for my Fasttag has been simply superb and I am waiting and watching to see what happens after February 29th. I am pretty sure that a workaround will be found - else I will shift thereafter. My other car is on ICICI and I used HDFC linked Fasttag on a trip with a Zoomcar in the north east last year, and neither of these two banks have an interface that is as easy to use as PayTM's. So I am sitting on the fence for now and will take the plunge (if at all required) next month.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I have 4 cars, and all of them are with PayTM Fastag. I will preload the PayTM wallet with 5 or 10k rupees And hold onto it. It has been overall a good experience with them. So, it's my turn to hold them a bit longer.

Shutting down PayTM Bank won't be as easy. There are 330 million customer accounts, and 40 million merchant accounts. So without a solution for these customers, RBI shouldn't cancel the banking license. In the worst-case scenario, I will get the new Fastag and get the refund from PayTM, so I am not in a hurry.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I submitted a request for closure of the PayTM FASTag on 10/02 and purchased a new one from IDFC FIRST Bank.

As per the SMS received from PayTM, refund will be processed within 7-10 working days. The Park+ app from which I purchased the new tag has no status update yet, and don't know what the timeframe for issuance / dispatch is.

Luckily my daily route does not involve any roll roads so I'm okay for now.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I applied for cancellation of Paytm FASTag. Do I have to upload photo of removed tag to complete the process? I will probably buy new tag from IDFC.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I wanted to shift to Airtel, so I tried to call their Fastag customer care thrice, as I am a black member and quite happy with the service, but was unable to connect. Then I called ICICI Fastag customer care and found a human voice on the other side in 5 minutes, so I decided to shift my Fastag account to ICICI; I don't even have an account in ICICI, yet I have chosen them, one being customer care and the other being this thread (Who is your preferred FASTag provider?).

Regarding Holding:

I wanted to hold on like many others, but even their customer care is not stopping us or providing any positive signal that we should wait; rather, they are happily suggesting that we should close the account.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Currently I am holding to my Paytm FASTag and I've heard about the possibility of it integrating with a UPI vendor. If this doesn't happen by February 29th, I believe it's time to consider switching to another fastag provider.

Yes, if you have a photo of the removed tag - you can upload the photo in the app under 'Upload Destroyed FASTag Image'. Though not sure if that really helps in closing of the FASTag completely.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

<don’t have an option to vote>
If I had would have voted for “Holding on to paytm until I get clarity.”
Don’t have any immediate plans for travel in Feb end or March beginning. If the issue does not have any solution by then, will close and go for HDFC since I have an account there already. If in emergency have to go through a toll road, will probably buy from the dozens of vendors sitting near the tolls.
No hurry for me. Would just wait and see. The convenience of loading up in Paytm is just too easy to part way with unless there is no other option. My Father in law has one from Axis bank and I absolutely hate their interface and site which takes multiple attempts every time I try to load it for him.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

PayTM fastag has been by far the most seamless and completely trouble-free fastag experience for me so far. I am not ditching it. In fact, I have added more money to my PayTM wallet to last me for new few months. Let's see how it goes.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I am also a happy PayTM subscriber here - waiting and watching the events unfolding till end of the month.

Also based on the statistics it looks IDFC first bank has topped as issuer bank for January. May be it can be added to poll as well? Top 5 are IDFC, ICICI, Paytm, HDFC & Kotak

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I have been very happy with it. It has been a "buy it, stick it and forget it" experience so far. It was a very seamless experience, even when I did not cross a single toll plaza for two years during the pandemic. I just went on a highway trip after two years and it worked fine.

I am positive it will continue to function in some way or the other. So I am keeping it, till it becomes inevitable to change it.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I had been getting "your fastag is blacklisted" msgs when parking in Aerocity, Delhi. It was probably due to some physical damage to the fasttag because the tag was active on Paytm app. When I asked for new fasttag, Paytm customer care said they are not permitted to issue a replacement fasttag, and himself recommend that I cancel it and they will refund the balance. Which I immediately did.
