Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Opted for closing the Paytm fastag and apply fora new one. Any tips on removing the fastag from the windshield without scratching it? I had to do it once before when switching from hdfc to paytm and it was a messy activity.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I stand in solidarity for those who have voted for "Holding on to paytm until I get clarity". I hope that it will continue. However, I have reduced my wallet balance to minimum to meet toll charges till the issue gets resolved. Expecting some good news soon regarding this.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I have transferred my wallet balance of about 5k back to my bank. Initiated the closure of PayTM Fast Tag, and applied for one through PhonePe, which by default, is ICICI. Although it is being said that Paytm fastag shall continue to work beyond 29Feb, just that you won't be able to add more money into your wallet. However, I did what Rats do....deserted the sinking ship!

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I avail monthly Toll pass and i can't close my PayTM FASTag as I would also lose the monthly pass benefit.

The monthly pass expires on the last day of every month and needs to be renewed each month.

I don't suppose that i can close my PayTM FASTag on 29th and have another FASTag handy that i can associate to my Vehicle number on 1st Mar and then do a monthly recharge on the new tag? Is it possible?

Anyone else facing this dilemma?

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Cancelled Paytm fastag to avoid any hassle I would've faced later on. It was a heavy price too because same day I had to visit mysore and the expressway charged me penalties both sides. It was quite heavy on the pocket.

Ultimately, I went to ICICI & got the fastag already. I'm yet to see how well it fares against Paytm as it was entirely uneventful and dint face any hiccups throughout since the time I got it in 2019! Farewell, Paytm!

I'll post my experience with ICICI as I put it to good use in the coming months.

Searched some more and found that we can buy a Park+ FASTag that ships to you as an unregistered tag. To register, you can simply download the app, scan your tag and update the details, Viola!

I have ordered a tag and will be activating this as soon as i close my PayTM FASTag.

Hope this helps.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I initiated closure request on Jan 31st evening. However the Paytm FASTag is not yet fully closed. It is currently in Closure Initiated status and have been following up with paytm for several days. The only status update now I hear from the paytm helpdesk executive is "we have escalated the issue, please wait for 24 hrs" ( The 3 more days got reduced to 24 hrs (Who is your preferred FASTag provider?))
Later applied for ICICI through Amazon Pay, got in delivered and activated in 2 days. Recently used for a trip to Chennai and the new FASTag worked fine.

You can check the detailed step by step guidance here in another thread (Who is your preferred FASTag provider?)

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Not sure what the panic is for? I have kept the Fastag as it is, this being a separate service and there is no impact as far as I have read. I am using the auto top up option and has worked flawless, whereas Axis as well as ICICI one that are being used in family has had some issue or the other.

Edit: I have enough balance for now and Paytm says an alternate load option will be provided soon.

Switched.. either way it was good to move, I never found paytm fastag being transparent, probably did not do enough to keep a check on it, the statements were never clear :(

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Switching to ICICI Fastag:

On February 8th, I requested the closure of my PayTM Fastag account. However, as of now, the status remains unchanged as "Closure initiated." Despite multiple follow-ups, there is no indication of when the closure and refund will be processed.

I placed an online order for an ICICI Fastag on February 9th, and it arrived today. The delivery was exceptionally fast. However, I now find myself with two active Fastags—one from ICICI and the other from PayTM.

In December 2022, PayTM froze my wallet without prior notice. When I canceled one PayTM Fastag at that time, the process was swift. However, the closure of my account is now taking considerably longer. I switched to Indusind back and was back to PayTM due to the wallet reusability feature.
PayTM customer care is not that great!! Hope they close out the existing PayTM fastag now. I will not return to PayTM. Fingers crossed!

But then by Feb 29th, One Vehicle One Fastag rule kicks in and all the Fastags will be blacklisted.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I was on the fence regarding keeping vs switching. Had to travel to Vadodara yesterday and at the first toll booth from Ahmedabad, my tag was not being recognised. Realised that it had slowly detached at one end from the windshield and the chip is missing.
So long story short, bought a new ICICI tag from the toll plaza itself and activated it on the spot. The journey up and down was smooth without any issues.
I’ve requested for closure of my PayTM tag today

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

So looks like paytm has now added a unique UPI ID for each individual fastag. This will ensure that you can keep recharging the fastag UPI with money. If this works then i dont think i will need to shift out of Paytm immediately atleast

That's been the case ever since Fastags and UPI started coexisting. Not something Paytm introduced now.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

This is the fun part of being in India.

Like usual, they might reach some settlement and it won’t be banned, leading to all the people who proactively changed it wasting their time and money and being called stupid.

Or in case they don’t reach a settlement, they will call everyone who didn’t change it an idiot and say you should have changed it because we let you know in advance.

As usual, knowing the future is the only way to be sane here.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Any idea how long Airtel takes to process Fastags ordered from the Airtel Thanks app? The initial estimate seems to be fairly long at 12 days.
