Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Hdfc also has auto top up in their fastag portal. Need hdfc bank account for this if someone wants to do it. I didn't want to link my bank account so I am doing manual hdfc CC recharge.

Edit- Paytm is issuing hdfc fastag with 100rs promo discount. Delivery time was 3 days.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I have closed three out of four of my Paytm FASTags today. Will be shifting them all to ICICI. Ordered one through the PhonePe app. Will be ordering them one by one, so that there is no confusion and the correct tag gets fixed to each car.

The tags automatically get registered and linked with the ICICI iMobile app, and there is inbuilt wallet functionality as well. So, I expect it to work just like Paytm, and funds will be deducted from a common wallet. My experience with the ICICI app has been good (don’t have an ICICI account, just an ICICI-Amazon credit card). Hoping for a seamless transition.

While closing Paytm fastag, it says that refundable amount (₹ 400) will be refunded to the Paytm Payments Bank wallet. Isn't PPB being barred from operation tomorrow?

Also, is uploading destroyed fastag mandatory for refund?

Refund amounts are excluded; only deposits or adding funds will not work. Refunds from any merchant will work as usual, and you can withdraw them too. I read this few days ago in the notice released by RBL.

No, this is not mandatory.

I have not tried that - both the vehicles in my CUG group are in my name. I have set up a separate account for my wife's car.

Do check other providers also - I do have a grouse with ICICI of not being able to have dynamic use between tags from a common wallet. There is auto allocation, which I have not tried. I am not sure if this will allow the usage in above line.

Let me know your experience of linking multiple tags into a single ICICI wallet. I have one car with ICICI fastag and another with Paytm fastag. I intend to move to ICICI once the paytm wallet balance is exhausted.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Guys, Is it possible to convert existing PayTM fastag to another Bank's fastag without removing the sticker? If not, removing the existing tag is such a big hassle, they should have given an option to move to another bank with existing sticker.

This is the ideal option for all of us Paytm users, isn’t it? Unfortunately no such option seems to be there. I had also been on wait and watch mode about this, hoping for such a solution or perhaps Paytm Bank being sold/taken over by someone or a last minute reprieve by the government. But it seems like the old tags will have to be scraped off.

My wifey has an ICICI account, and I have linked my new fastag to her account. ICICI has an app called eToll by ICICI Bank specifically for managing the fastag. The app has an auto-recharge option, which I have already enabled.

I'm also planning to link the same bank account for my in-laws' and parents' cars. I hope it will work as seamlessly as it did with Paytm.

Unfortunately, this was not done. This concept should have been implemented by the government for the consumers, or at least Paytm should have taken some initiative to prevent inconvenience for their customers. Neither the government nor Paytm has prioritized consumer convenience in this matter.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I had an Airtel Wallet which was created several years ago, and now it has been marked dormant. I am unable to buy Fastag due to this. Does anyone know how to get the wallet activated again?

There is no option that I could find in the Airtel Thanks app to complete KYC and re-activate wallet.

I tried calling their support number but there was no way to speak to anybody. Unable to open a complaint online as it doesn't let me login due to the wallet being dormant. The other option is to send an email, but I had sent one back in 2022 to reactivate the account, but never got any response. Maybe I will try sending another email.

Hi, I have done this couple of times and got the Airtel Money Wallet reactivated (Though I am not actively using it).
You need to send an email to wecare@airtelbank.com from your wallet registered email ID, and request them to reactivate your dormant Airtel Money wallet along with 2 documents ( 1. Signed consent letter for activation 2. Self Attested Aadhar copy - mask the first 8 digits). It will take 2-3 working days for activation.
You can check the Airtel FAQ for any further information

Indeed, RBI & Paytm should have implemented porting facility of their fastag accounts for the ease of customers.

Wondering how come such an option was never though of and implemented!

Btw,

With their KYC shenanigans, I doubt any other bank would have been comfortable to accept a direct porting.

Fastag money got refunded after 7 days, no followup needed. Though they asked for photo of destroyed fastag.

Same with the wallet and the bank, they closed it without any drama (!3days).
However, after closure of the paytmbank a/c, they reopened it to deposit Rs1 for the monthly interest :-)
The account got closed automatically on transferring out the balance.

Thanks, got a response to my email this time. However, apparently the wallet has been closed, and said that I need to open a Airtel Savings account if interested. For this there is an option in the Airtel Thanks app.

However, I had a question regarding Airtel Fastag, is there an option for auto topup of the wallet/savings account? I did a quick search but didn't find any such option.

It looks like finding a proper replacement for Paytm Fastag is difficult, my requirements are

1. Common wallet for multiple cars
2. Auto topup if balance falls below a threshold.
