This is correct. I opted for it and got an immediate confirmation that my HDFC Fast Tag has been generated and dispatched. You have to select the promo code at the time of payment to get the Rs. 100 discount though.

I was sitting on the fence all this while but finally took the plunge since Paytm clearly mentioned that this is a replacement FastTag in the message they sent. So the existing FastTags will be discontinued once the deadline hits, I suppose. I'm not looking forward to removing my existing FastTag and pasting a new one, to be honest, but it looks like I don't have a choice any more.

This was OPTIONAL when I ordered - this was possibly 19th-Feb. And I did order a second tag the next day as well and there was no MAX feature inclusion.
Earlier they were charging a Security Deposit of ₹200 per tag which was refundable. Looks like IDFC got greedy with the increased demand and they have made it mandatory now.

I did voluntarily take the Fastag MAX for 1 car as there was no RSA for it and got the Security Deposit amount as a refund onto the pool account.
I am happy with the IDFC Fastag and its working - working like a charm and easy to top up using any UPI App.

Yet to fully understand how the Pool Account works. If I park funds in Pool Account, and if one of the Tags I have runs empty - will it automatically pull funds from the Pool Account?

I am using the pool account. Once you activate the pool account, the balance on both my car tags shows zero. All the money gets pooled into pool account. The toll payment for both the cars gets deducted from the pool account every time the cars pass through the toll booth. I am sure it works the same way for parking fees and (HPCL) fuel payment as well.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I have 3 vehicles with Paytm Fastags. It worked like a charm, just load the wallet when the balance was low and toll keeps getting deducted for any of the 3 vehicles crossing tolls. I have yet held on to the Paytm tags as I am looking at a similar solution like Paytm. Going by the last few posts, what I understand is that only IDFC is the one which is providing a pool account for deduction of tolls on multiple vehicles. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. If this is the case, I will order 3 new Fastags from IDFC.

Airtel functions similarly to Paytm. You can add money to Airtel Money, and it will be distributed among multiple tags. Meanwhile, you can also use the same money to make other payments.

I can speak for IDFC FASTag. Yes, IDFC provides the pool account which can be activated if you have more than one IDFC FASTag in your name.

Oh there is a technical issue then i guess. Of the 3 vehicles, one is in my name, one in my mother's name and one in my brother's name. Will IDFC still allow to pool the 3 vehicles?

It should be possible. Because, when you place the order, it just asks for the registration number and not the name. So, I believe it should work.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

After a lot of of deliberation, I've decided to go with ICICI Amazon Pay Fastag. Most folks on this forum are preferring ICICI and the 1% cashback for Prime members is too tempting for me. Also Amazon is offering their Fastag for lesser price than buying from ICICI directly, Rs 499 when buying directly and Rs 299 when buying from Amazon.

Not exactly. May be that is the ideal set up. The new KYC verification could bring and end to this. But we are not there yet. Please see the status of fastags on my friends' cars. I personally know that they did not bother to deactivate. They just bought a new tag and went about with it.

Had to escalate the matter. Finally, they issued second tag under same customer ID. Vehicle and Tag details added in account, tag itself is on the way via BlueDart expected to be delivered tomorrow.

I wonder why they have made the process so cumbersome. Right from issue of second/ subsequent tag, balance limit based auto-recharge etc. There aren't any technical reasons that I could foresee. Yet, this half-hearted approach.

Should not be an issue, my friend had two vehicles, one under his own name and another under his company's name. Both were clubbed under IDFC account which had his KYC.

In this scenario, according to your screenshot, the latest one should be active, and the other one may deactivate automatically as per the ihmcl. KYC will be verified at the time of purchase strictly. Only a few people might have bought the old tags without KYC. Nowadays, KYC is being done for the latest one, so I don't think there will be a problem, but let's see. Can't trust, but the source is directly from IMCHL.

If there is a possibility to deactivate tags, we should consider doing so. For used car buyers who cannot deactivate or are unable to get help from the previous owner, this would be beneficial. Keeping the recent one active is a good move.

I have not got any such message. Checked on the App and could not find any option to order "Replacement Tag".

Could you please help me with the process of ordering this?

Does the Paytm fast tag automatically cancelled once we you order the HDFC tag?

Is it possible to recharge the HDFC tag with Paytm App?

Navigate to ‘buy new fastag’ option. The new fastag is HDFC fastag. On the order page, there’s a coupon code to avail Rs. 100 as discount.

As per NETC, in case of two fastag for same vehicle , the older one gets closed automatically. Still I would say that better to apply for closure. The option to close Paytm fastag is now available just when you click on the existing fastag.

The HDFC fastag can be easily recharged through paytm but not the balance can’t be used for anything else as the wallet is gone.

I received the message below with an ordering link on my Whatsapp.

Name: Screenshot 20240312 232717.png
Views: 280
Size: 256.2 KB

Clicking on the link took me to my PayTM app (where I was already signed in) on my phone and opened on the HDFC Bank FastTag page. While ordering the new FastTag, I had to enter the vehicle registration and chassis number along with mobile number, so I'm sure that the earlier FastTag is now cancelled.

Reloads after 15th March are anyway not possible as PayTM Payments Bank to which the existing FT is linked will not be working after 15th March, but as per reports and communication from PayTM you can withdraw the balance into your bank account at any time.

PayTM also mentioned that it will be possible to recharge the HDFC FastTag from the PayTM app. However I am yet to check all these things as I still haven't got around to fixing the new tag on my vehicle. I am waiting for the 15th to come by and will install after that. Will let you know how it goes.
