Any of you having problems with Meru called up and complained or have given feedback with the driver details on their website. Meru takes such a lapse seriously and I urge each one of you to give feedback - Both positve and negative on Meru. People like you and me can improve by providing continuous feedback to these firms. Else we are the losers in the end.

In my attempts to book the Meru cab for intra city travel, I have always found that they are not available, but that was never ever the case for BIAL travel.
Do they have differentiated strategies?

I have been using Meru Cabs for 2 years now and never had any problems with them. The drivers are very courteous, they arrive on time and don't ask for extra money over the meter ever. Also, they always charge by the meter instead of asking for a fixed amount for places that are near ( this is done by other taxi operators like Spot Taxi in Bangalore ). I have stopped using Auto Rickshaws now as they don't switch on their meters in bangalore. I always call in advance so i have never had a problem of the cabs not being available ( except once when i wanted to board a BMTC bus to the airport and realised i was running out of time to catch my flight. Called Meru and they got me a cab in 15 min and i reached the airport in time ).
I would recommend Meru cabs to anyone trying to get a cab in Bangalore.

+1 for Meru cabs, I have used them extensively from Indranagar to BLR airport. They always prompt in time, no extra fares, even in night its the same day fare.

Faced this many times too!! Though we are frequent users of Meru for airport, if we call up for intra city travel, they deny cabs saying they are not available. I guess they dont want to do intra city travels as its not profitable for them. This started happening only from a few months ago. Before that intra city travel was also given due importance.

i Was in Delhi last month. was too tired to drive all the way so I called Easy cab to visit a friend in Noida. When we reached Toll booth, the driver said I will pay sir, you can pay me later. What he actually does is he pays the boy at the booth (Rs.10). And the boy slips a waste paper. This actually happens so fast, but i was quick enough to see it, I just laugh at him and asked, "Bhai pachas rupai ke liye itni mehnat". he was so embarassed.

What I found was, these frequent NCR driver has an understanding with booth boys at toll gate. and the fact that passenger rarely ask for a small thing like receipt for a toll booth.

Called up Meru today to book a cab. They have started charging 50/- as booking fee if you book cab for pickup within next 24 hours. Strangely, the charge for booking within 30 minutes is 25/-
I booked an easycab instead.

In August, I had booked a Meru cab to take us from Dombivli to Borivali. The experience was pleasant, there was no booking charge, the driver was on time (4:45am) and even warned us that he would leave in case we delayed him further (we started at around 5:30am). My personal issue was he didn't wear a seatbelt for the whole journey. Otherwise it was a good experience. The vehicle was a Logan, so the comfort need not be elaborated upon.

I took the Meru cab from T3-Delhi Airport to my residence in Ashok Vihar. Though the journey was pleasant, but I feel they have started charging too high. I paid Rs. 760 for the 34 km trip, which included Airport parking fee of Rs. 80.

When you book on call, the charges are Rs 15/km. But, at the airport, the charges are Rs 20/km.

Re: Alternative to driving - MERU cab

Meru just doesn't fail to impress . Called them at the last minute on Saturday night and cab was down my house in a couple of minutes.

All Meru cabs now have useful recorded messages that play back at a predesignated time. For example, the minute I sat in the cab, and the driver turned the meter on, a message (loud & clear) informed me that billing starts now. At the end of the journey, the recorded message gave me a reminder to collect the receipt, and all my belongings from the car. Nice.

Re: Alternative to driving - MERU cab

I have never been able to book a Meru - anytime of the day or night. Not even for the airport, in the dead of the night too.

They get the thumbs down from me.

Re: Alternative to driving - MERU cab

Wonder why have Meru started charging convenience charge.

If I book more than 24 hrs in advance, I have to pay 50 Bucks extra.
If I book more than 35 mins in advance, I will have to pay 25 bucks extra.

It seems, they are more comfortable in picking passengers instantly, with no waiting.

Also, the charges per kms are 20, while for night, the charges are 25 bucks per km in NCR.

In the end if you want a cab for airport drop at late night/early morning, you need a reliable cab, who would turn up for sure, however, be ready to pay extra money to Meru for the same.

Re: Alternative to driving - MERU cab

I like it when a product / service provider goes the extra step to please a customer. I had a super long day yesterday, and then an evening flight home. Catch a Meru from the airport and tell him to turn on the radio. "Sorry sir, no stereo fitted to this car", he says. Nevermind. 5 minutes later, I see him fiddling with something and voila...good music from FM radio!

How? He switched on the radio on his mobile phone. Somehow, it worked

Re: Alternative to driving - MERU cab

I tried booking a cab through their website, for which there are no additional charges, last week. I tried thrice and all the times, the request got rejected stating unavailability of cabs. However, when I called their call center, they were able to book a cab for the same pickup time without any problems. Seems like they want to force users to pay this additional charge. This is a unethical practice they have started and get a thumbs down for me.

On the same note, makemytrip is offering customers who book flights on their website cab booking as well through easycab. They also offer 10% off on the cabfare! Don't know how well this works though!
