Re: Traffic Ticket in Bangalore

Cleared all the dues after availing this offer.
All the violations were due to "not wearing helmet" and were within 150 mts from my home (going to hotel to bring breakfast on weekends).

Lesson Learnt: Abide to traffic rules, even if it is near and not monitored by cops.

Re: Traffic Ticket in Bangalore

I knew I had one violation for our car, but was surprised to find a violation for my Safari. The Safari had a kind of break-down right in front of a no parking sign, and I was waiting there with the vehicle. No traffic patrol vehicle stopped by - so not sure when they took a pic and raised the challan. I had not received any sms or dues notice for this. What ever the case, paid both and cleared my dues.

For the higher rate of fines these days, some respite for both sides. At least here, the violations have mostly not caused permanent results like what happens in case of encroachments.

Re: Traffic Ticket in Bangalore

In my 7 years of driving in Bangalore, received my first traffic ticket on 26/11/2022. It was a Saturday and I had to go towards Madiwala from Jeevan Bima Nagar. Indiranagar 100ft road was getting white-topped only on the carriageway leading to Domlur flyover.

Not knowing about this white-topping, I came down 12th Main but could not take left into 100ft road. I saw few BMTC buses and other vehicles plying on wrong side towards Domlur. I followed them and promptly got pulled over by a traffic cop just before Domlur flyover near the Barbeque Nation signal. I explained the situation to him and asked him I did not know any other way to reach Domlur inner ring road from 12th Main junction. He said, I must have missed a traffic cop stationed at that junction re-routing everyone to go straight up to Double road and then take left. I pointed out to him that how is it that everyone including BMTC buses missed the cop! He nodded and let me go.

I kept checking BTP website for a traffic challan and it popped up on 3rd Jan 2023. A nice pic of a confused me and wife wondering if following the buses was a good idea. Paid the fine of Rs.500 on 5th January through online mode.

Now a month later, comes this news of 50% waiver. I wonder, if following rules is the dumb thing to do in this city
I feel like a dunce and definitely will make me think twice in future before I pay my traffic fines on time (I hope to never break traffic rules).

Bangalore traffic police offering 50% discount on traffic fines as one time measure

Bangalore traffic police is offering 50% discount on outstanding traffic fines as a one time measure. This would be a good time for folks with outstanding fines to settle them. The scheme is open till Feb 11th per media reports.

Now once the current scheme is over, folks with challans will wait for the next scheme. This is what is happening in Hyderabad. My friends are having two or three traffic challans and waiting for the next discount offer

Re: Bangalore traffic police offering 50% discount on traffic fines as one time measure

I read that the period of rebate has been extended a further 2 weeks. First of all, is this even true?
And if yes any ideas as to how to pay the fines?
I tried paying the fine through PayTM and it says the operator is not accepting payments.
Tried paying through the Bengaluru Traffic Police website - which redirects to Bangalore One website and there is no rebate/discount there. Any advice on how to pay with the rebate would help.

Thanks and Regards

Re: Bangalore traffic police offering 50% discount on traffic fines as one time measure

Seen this, been there, done that.

This country will not be a developed nation in the near future. This is purely a political stunt by the people in power. The same gimmick was used by the ruling party in Telangana just before GHMC elections, which ensured better margins in vote %.

If this forum allows, I can quote an opposition MLA who has asked to 'maafi'(pardon) all pending challans on two wheeler and autos in Hyderabad. This is on record during the assembly sessions two weeks back. Another gentleman from a prominent and 'strongest' Nation Wide party promised to cancel all challans if his party wins in GHMC elections last time. So this cancer is present across parties.

Yes, it was nice to pay-off the challans with 50% discount. But now, after this election, many including me are waiting for this 'scheme' to be back.

Of course, traffic violations are at their highest now.

For next time:

If you were about 20m before the signal just turn left into the cross road there (1st cross), hit 13th Main which is a one-way going the other way, go a bit and cross over to 14th Main along the central library road and join 100ft road at the junction of 14th Main near New Horizon school.

If you missed that turn go straight and turn left on to the 1st cross on the other side and hit 13th Main here. This will eventually take you to Double road, from which you have to exit towards Domlur BDA complex / TTMC. Join OA road at the TTMC and take the loop ramp to join the interchange's upper level and descend onto IRR.

In other words - without significant local knowledge you were fighting a losing battle :-)

Re: Bangalore traffic police offering 50% discount on traffic fines as one time measure

I am trying to pay the traffic fines on my car. In the traffic payment website launched from https://btp.gov.in/, I can see violation-pics on only some of the citations. I'd like to pay only for those that have a pic, I'm hesitant to pay for those that don't have a pic. Does that sound reasonable?

But the website doesn't seem to let us select specific citations. It calculates a total amount for all citations. Is there any other way to pay such that I pay only some of the citations?

No, I believe the lesson you should've learnt is not to take even 200 m lightly when it comes to two wheels. Wear a lid for your own sake. And perhaps others as well.

This. Lack of proper awareness leads to people just resorting to their moronic behavior once more, now under the impression that they can get away by paying their fines late and in half.

The NHPS road and a few other roads there were hell for the couple of weeks when people used them. I remember 30 minute jams....utter chaos. I just resorted to looping around through the BSNL building road.

Due to high demand the offer dates on the discounts have been extended :-) (till Mar 19)
Quote:
50 per cent discount on traffic fines would be applicable for 15 days from Saturday. The order said the discount would be applicable to traffic violations reported before February 11.

How do I avail the 50% discount? When I go to BTP website and query on my vehicle, it shows some challans totaling Rs X in fines. I am expecting that I'll need to pay Rs X/2. But when I proceed to pay it, it doesn't reduce it, it still shows Rs X. What am I missing?

While I made multiple payments for different family members and acquaintances. In all cases they had one outstanding violation and it showed the discounted amount as the fine. But, I'd paid this around a fortnight back.

PS: I used karnataka one portal & paytm to pay the fines.
Attaching a screen grab for your reference where the actual fine and the discounted fine are displayed.
