Human traffic jam at Yeshwanthpur Junction Railway Station Human traffic jam at Yeshwanthpur Jn.
This post is about my experiences on a recent trip to and fro Yeshwanthpur Junction.
I'd gone there to board a train to Solapur. Although I had over 20 minutes in hand, my sight of the crowd on the foot over bridge (FOB) gave me a shock.
There was a human jam on the FOB from platform #6 (the main entry) towards platform #4, apparently caused by a large number of passengers who'd arrived by a train at platform #4. This resulted in some tense moments for passengers headed towards the two trains departing platforms 2 and 3. I took the ramp at the southern end (Bengaluru end) of platform #6, and went up, only to find the overhead section jammed. Two folks were making their way through the mess and I just followed suit to move out of the mass of humans. As soon as I crossed the area over platform #4, all was well. Key takeaways:
1. Not sure, but entering through the other side (platform #1) or the non-metro side makes better sense else one has to figure out if there is a walkway over the tracks at either end to avoid such unforeseen sights. This can be a downer for those who arrive at the station with just five minutes to spare.
2. The steps to the FOB from platform #1 are much much wider than the one on #6. Serene Solapur
I must have passed through this station umpteen times over the last 35+ years but never got off. The station is rather impressive, and most importantly, there is zero congestion around the road just outside the station. Hotel Vishwa, around the road corner right opposite the station is a decent pure veg restaurant. The sambar is a tad sweet but the rest of the south Indian fare that I sampled was good. However, one can't see the restaurant from the station. Dedicated lanes for drop off by auto, car, and for the Babu cars were all there.
