After reading this forum posts, I checked my recent Paytm fastag deductions and there happened to be a single deduction for ₹60 at a toll plaza which I didn't visit. Just raised a ticket submitting all documents. Will wait for resolution. In the meantime time I decided to withdraw all the money from wallet to bank account. That way there will only be minimum of ₹150 in fast tag and any deduction in it will automatically disable the tag until I recharge again.

Raise the dispute directly with NHAI. These vendors will be unable to help after a point and will make excuses

Moreover, the deduction happens without passing through the toll which means low balance is not an issue

To update, Paytm finally refunded 110 Rs. My last comments in the chat with the support (bot) were "I will be requesting to get this fast tag cancelled soon".

I have had two such instances of toll deduction on days when I was travelling on work, which I came to know from the SMS. Both were for a toll plaza just outside Delhi, amazingly within 10 minutes of each other (meaning my car would have had to pass through the same toll twice in 10 minutes!). My car is kept in open air parking in my housing society and I am now worried someone has figured out how to illegally scan the FASTAG. I wonder if it is possible to disable it when not in use, or if I can install some cover on it.

And for the the third time my Paytm fast tag had another invalid deduction of 50 Rs this morning. This time it is at the Bajna ramp toll plaza which is at the Yamuna expressway (UP) . The toll got deducted when I was in the car which is parked at my society in Mumbai. I was just doing a monthly checkup of the dash cam wifi and my mobile was with me when the deduction sms came.

I have initiated a closure of the fast tag. It will take 4 to 5 working days for the closure it seems post that I will apply for a new fast tag. I am thinking ICICI bank fast tag. I will wait for complete closure and then re-initiate a new tag. It means for around 2 weeks I will not have a active fast tag. I hope I do not have to pay double toll and cash lane is available. I have to travel towards Airoli 1-2 times a week.

Edit:- Just tried calling the NHAI helpline. No one is picking up. Will try the no again on Monday and see. The second helpline 1033 the dude at the end said it is a "wrong number" when I said I wanted to complain about fast tag.

Just to update I cancelled the Paytm fast tag which happend in 3-4 working days and upon receiving confirmation of closure from Paytm I immediately applied for an ICICI tag. They created an account for me post submitting the details and when I noticed entries made somehow against my mobile no were for another vehicle with a different chassis/engine no. Also note how they have entered the license plate no. Where on earth does any vehicle in India has such a registration no?

I have raised a complaint to ICICI, lets see what happens. All these details were not visible in the Paytm mobile app etc. I hope I have a better experience with the new tag which is yet to be delivered to me. It seems the incorrect entries made at the time of creating a new tag for me (HDFC dealer initiated request) has been carried forward to all the new tags ie Paytm/ICICI. This will be my third tag for the same car .

This is clearly a massive scam. This has happened to me on 4 different occasions. I finally decided to cancel the Fastag and got a new one. I've not had any issues ever since. I also make it a point to keep the wallet balance as low as a few rupees just so they can't whack money off my wallet

This happened to me two weeks back. I'm using Paytm fastag and I passed via the Dindigul-Theni highway (NH 183) in the morning and the toll amount was deducted. Later, in the evening, my tag was charged again.

I raised a request and shared the photo of the tag, and RC as they asked. I got the refund after a week.

Keeping a separate account linking to FASTag makes the best sense but even that account, it will need an AMB of 5k which again is a risk.

Hopefully the idea of deducting based on kms run is spot on or else should defer until the govt is absolutely sure of its implementation accuracy!

I use Paytm fast tag and recharge based on the need. Not sure if it is, but at least feel secure as I have a stipulated amount in balance.
On other note just received notification of money being deducted for my car some 35 kms away fr my place, when I have not taken the car out since Friday. Raised a complaint with Paytm. Let's see how it goes

Paytm will be of no help. Raise the complaint directly with NHAI or use same number as WhatsApp to raise complaint

If I have an issue, I always raise it with NHAI. The resolution is assured in a decent span of time. The tag providers like paytm, airtel etc are hopeless in this regard!

Do you escalate to NHAI after raising a ticket with the provider?

I just got a deduction message from a place I haven't seen in 3 months.

I recently had same experience. I use PayTM fastag and got message that Rs. 70 has been deducted from a toll plaza on Merut Expressway that I have not ever visited.

Raised a complaint over PayTM and still awaiting for resolution.

The ticket conveys to wait for 10 days for Toll Plaza to complete the investigation.
