Saw the video today. The person, evidently someone from the local chowky, deserves kudos for standing up to this entitled brat and not budging. By the end of it, this “son” was almost in tears trying to show-off his credentials. Such is the entitlement even today, that they have zero remorse. Wonder how the father is!

A walking advertisement for population control, if there ever was one.
I faced this a couple of weeks ago, when I was going down the GST Road in Chennai. This incident happened near the airport.
I saw a series of police vehicles come up quite fast behind me, with their indicators indicating that they'd want to go to the airport. So I did the sane thing and stayed in the middle lane, allowing them to pass on the right.
Three police Innovas passed, followed by a couple of private vehicles, and finally followed by a couple of armoured police vans (the Swaraj Mazda ones with grilled windows and windshield)
The two police vans were side by side and were blowing their horn incessantly for everyone to move over to the left most lane. This time, I refused to do so and stayed in the middle lane, and this guy was tailgating me for around 10 metres and honking non-stop. When finally he did drop back and follow the other van in the right lane, there was a policeman standing on the footboard of the van who let loose with some choice Tamil swear words.
I did not even glance at that side and just kept going. But this shows how the gaggle of random people around the entitled people also become entitled by association.
Found this article in my Google news feed and it make me laugh wryly.

I lazily wonder if I should also stick political party flags all over my car, but different flags on different sides so that I can be a VIP in all constituencies.
Jokes apart, the government really should streamline which vehicles are classified as VIPs.
Here is another example of someone who thinks he is important because of the 'danda' on his bonnet. He was blocking my way by coming totally on my side of the road. He then went further to my left and cut across. A havaldar came walking up from behind & took a picture of my car saying that I had jumped the signal. Fortunately everything is recorded on my dash cam which clearly showed that there were 10 seconds left for the light to change when I passed it. Now let's see what happens.
Classic case of the rulers saying "Do as I tell, don't do as I do !
The Maharashtra state President of a national party (second from right) driving the RE Bullet with a MLA as his pillion and the supporters seen taking a first ride on a newly opened flyover in the city, yesterday.
None but one is wearing a helmet. One pillion rider on the foreground is seated facing backwards on a two wheeler.

A good thing would be if everyone just ignored the thugs & refused to give way. Pretend not to notice if they are behind you. Then there is nothing they can do. If they do pass you ignore them. The only reason that they get away with this loutish behaviour is because people let them. Only a very few people are allowed to use sirens anyway.
Got on the receiving end of a cop doing traffic control for some VIP convoy.
Morning drive to office, saw cops at all junctions and they were blocking traffic from all sides except my lane. Some VIP was en route I assumed.
After a few junctions, I heard the dreaded blare of the escort vehicle somewhere behind me.
Saw lights flashing in my rear view mirror at a distance, flicked on the left indicator and proceeded to move to the left lane. Let the convoy pass (It was the CM), and proceeded to merge back onto my lane behind the convoy.
Cop then stopped me at the junction. Started mouthing off and gesturing wildly at me. I just sat there with a blank expression till he lost wind.
I gave way well in advance, I let them all pass me by, I joined after they passed me by. Yet I apparently did something wrong.
Sigh.
