Congratulations on acquiring the new Polo! Many many happy miles to you.

Did you have to procure an e-Pass to traverse through Maharashtra and enter CG?
Were the highway check posts diligent enough to check the e-pass docs?

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I saw this thread appear a couple of days ago, and was eager to post on it - however, I had not had any highway drives (bar till my sister in law’s place in the suburbs) since the lock downs started.

However, we managed to correct that today, by booking a villa near Lonavala and heading out this morning.

Some pics from our drive in (almost all courtesy my son who was riding shotgun):

Thanks a lot!!

Yes, I did procure the E-Passes for exit from MH and entry into CG. I applied for the CG pass first and once approved, used it to get the exit pass from Pune. Once I had the passes for Pune and CG available, I used it to get the pass from Mumbai to Pune. I had earlier applied for a Mumbai exit which was rejected. Pune has been more liberal in approving the passes so tried out this way which eventually worked out.

Within MH, I wasn't checked anywhere. The only place where I was asked to stop was at the border checkpost in CG where they just took details like names of people travelling, purpose of travel and whether I have the pass. Post that I was again stopped near Durg and the same details were asked for again.

During a coffee (home made ) break on the way from Bengaluru to Shivamogga, near Vani Vilas Sagar Dam. Nature looks so refreshed and cleansed.

One big change when we go out nowadays, lunch is always carried from home. This Decathlon set is perfect for this. Picnics by the road any one?

Bro no offence but this an extremely dangerous place to have a picnic. I understand this might be a rural road but Indian roads are full of idiots and you are taking up a significant portion of the (oncoming!) road as well.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

After several months I went a long drive yesterday to one our popular destination closer to Bangalore. Wow, what a feel to blaze through a road like this below, can you guess where? Drivers delight, it’s our famous Tumkur to Chitradurga Stretch, it was an amazing feel to propel my German diesel on this stretch.

Weekend drive to Chitradurga Fort

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I have done multiple highway trips post lockdown and two drives during lockdown. Couldn't take pics.
This one is from today's solo drive. It was a spur of the moment drive to Kavaledurga Fort.

Drove to Markonahalli Dam yesterday. Nicely maintained place and there wasn't much crowd at 9.30am.

The walkway beside the reservoir. Runs all the way to the Dam Gates.

Parked our car a bit further away from the entrance & had home-made breakfast!

That was a nice long drive!

Once hotels become safe for overnight stays, I hope to make a road trip from HYD to North East. I probably will need about 10 days for a reasonably relaxed road trip.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Very sad with a new Car in house; now 9 month old with absolutely low use in last 5 months.
But shorter stints around Ratnagiri are the ones to suffice me.
Here are some pics at Konkan Railway's highest Bridge:

Also there's some unusual on the Ratnagiri Jetty during high tide, I don't how it will appear but still attaching herewith.

Welcome to the driving club. You will surely find it far more comfortable to drive - even in heavy traffic - in a few months. Wishing you fun drives ahead!

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Haven't really got a chance to do a highway drive yet, most drives have been restricted to my 75-80 km daily office commute from Gurgaon to Noida and back ever since the lockdown started.

However, I've done some riding around NCR during this period. Here are a few pics clicked last evening, not too far away from Gurgaon.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Was very keen to drive Tata's latest, and we also hadn't reviewed the diesel, so called her in. Spent the weekend with the Altroz 1.5D. As Hayek posted, the greens are simply stunning. A wet Maharashtra is a beautiful Maharashtra! Head out, guys...head out. A long drive is the safest + most fun recreation you can have during Covid.
