Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Travelled from Mumbai to Bhilai(C.G) with a halt in Pune, the Pune-Bhilai stretch of ~960kms being done in a single day on my recently acquired Polo TSI. Though the journey was extremely tiring(I being the only driver throughout the journey), I thoroughly enjoyed the Polo!! Was a welcome change to the locked down life of the past few months and was also a great opportunity for me to get well acquainted with the car.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I (along with our driver) did a 3 days, 2300 kms long run from Noida to Imphal last week in my 10 years old Fortuner. Route taken was Noida > Yamuna Expressway > Agra > Taj Expressway > Lucknow > Gorakhpur > Muzafarpur > Darbanga > Aaria > Siliguri > Guwahati > Dimapur > Kohima > Imphal. We carried our own food, and the car was loaded to the brim with goods. Loved the drive till Gorakhpur. Traffic was very sparse and Monsoon was in its peak. Muzafarpur to Darbhanga was mixed of good and bad roads. We could see flood had submerged acres of lands and one side of the highway was used to house those affected by the flood in temporary tents. Stayed the 1st night in Darbhanga in brother-in-law house. And left early morning 3 AM for Guwahati. Road were fantastic from this point. When entering Assam, all traffic were stopped for 30 mins or so as Assam CM was on a road tour trip to adjacent district. Luckily for us, we were instructed to proceed as we are on a transit to Manipur and only commercial and heavy vehicles were stopped to allow for easy pass by the CM motorcade. With virtually no vehicles on the highway from Srirampur border district for the next 150 kms or so were empty. The drive was memorable one with the accompanying torrential rains.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

In the first week of August, I travelled to Phagwara via Amritsar.
Due to the lockdown my elder sister, came back and started working from home. Her scooter and car both were lying idle for over 3 months there.

Took this opportunity to get her scooter transported via road carriers and drove back her 2020 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 LXi solo from Amritsar to Kolkata.

Have ventured out on a couple of bike rides too but unfortunately don't have pictures.
Missing the weekly highway drives a lot!

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Went on a good highway drive on Mumbai - Pune Expressway last week. However the best part was the return journey via old highway. Few random clicks.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Needed respite from my Covid ICU duties that I have been doing since 6 months, hence drove on Mumbai--Pune Expressway today till Lonavala and back to Mumbai. No need of e-passes anymore, same wasn't checked at any point. It was a hassle free entry into Lonavala town but Amby valley road was blocked, hence intended drive till Lion's point was not possible ( wanted to enjoy my Polo on the hairpin bends ). Lingered around on old NH4 points where you get to see valleys and Expressway.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

Been to Igatpuri twice and once to Lonavala in the last 2 months. No checks for passes anywhere. Not many car pictures as I don't like clicking the car.

Celebrated kiddo s birthday followed by a small photoshoot at Igatpuri owing to the lockdown.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

After months of lockdown, a trip to my native to attend my BIL's marriage at Guruvayur came across to relieve the stress what myself and family were facing sitting at home all these days.

Really enjoyed the long drive and surprisingly the distance from Ranipet to Coimbatore and back felt like a short drive and we weren't tired at all.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

After gathering lots of courage during this lockdown, I could go out for first long drive of my life after this lockdown to Jaipur from Gurgaon on 1st Aug. I didn't have any intention to click photographs this time. My partner took these mobile snaps on the way. It took about 5 hours including stops for breakfast (home made) and tea breaks (this time we didn't have any outside foods) to reach Jaipur. I was overwhelmed because I started driving just 2 months back.
This was crazy, I still press the hazard lamp button if there is any incline in bumper to bumper traffic!
When I parked my Swift in ITC, one resident peacock was very inquisitive and started inspecting the car.

Approach road is very good till last half km. There is a proper off road section for few 100 mtrs thereafter.
Tried for few pics while coming down. Thanks to Linea's generous ground clearance and spotting by wife, underbody never kissed the ground.

I'd spotted the deer right in our farm. Regarding the driving experience, it's not fair to compare the Hexa to the Compass. But Compass in standalone is a really good car. Had fun driving it.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I went out for a drive on the Eastern Periphery Expressway. Had never been there before. Was redlining my car and the italian clean job on the 1.3 DDIS.
The car for sure is running smooth after the drive.

Pardon for the image quality.
