A quick lunch date at Malaka Spice (Vallone Vineyards Igatpuri), lush greenery everywhere! My work commute is on since June, but was refreshing to go across city borders!

Cross posting my another post. This was my first longish ride in a very very long time on the weekend gone by.

Today I felt I could do it and so decided to head to Igatpuri.

Thanks to the ongoing pandemic, the roads these days are the dream of any auto enthusiast. There is hardly any traffic

However, this usually beautiful piece of road from Mumbai to Nasik is in utter state of neglect right now. It is dotted with potholes and moon craters. If you are not careful, only God can save you as even the emergency responses are limited these days. While many eateries on the highway are open, there is limited crowd all around. This is kind of the ideal scenario that we always imagine, we always want to experience. Limited traffic, limited crowd so that you can enjoy the journey.

Late Monsoon season has ensured that you will enjoy the ride with cool wind and green views all along the road. The day was simply awesome too. Only light drizzle along the way and a lot of brightness all along.

Rode for 5 hours in total from the moment of leaving home and haven't felt any issues so far. Felt great to be able to use the bike for the intended purpose

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I had an urgent errand to be done at my home town which is about 300 kilometers from where i stay. I took this as a good reason to ride. Did not click any photo but was lucky to meet ashwinprakas who took this selfie on the way back. Thanks AP.

First drive after lockdown in June was to humble Nandi Hills, a customary trip for any new car in Bangalore. The road upto the top was closed, nevertheless it made up for a nice evening drive.

It has also become a ritual ever since to pick a NH or a SH and go on a early morning ~100 km ride almost every weekend, sometimes with family and sometimes solo too.

Lock down was lifted in Saudi long back.

Had taken family for a round to the nearby Corniche then. Sisters were so happy to see the Corniche after 2 months.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I got my vehicle on 15th May and have been finding the reasons to get behind the wheel ever since. We went to Sambhar lake in the last week of May. It is just 1.5hrs drive from Jaipur and the roads at that time were deserted. We got out of the vehicle once and that too at a place where there was no one around.

Then just the past weekend we went to Bisalpur dam, about 2.5 hrs drive from Jaipur. But, the place was very crowded and we didn’t stay much. However, the weather was beautiful and it was absolutely pelting down while we were returning in the dark.

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

I am one of those lucky people who had active driving duties even during lockdown.

I had 6 daily passes for all days except Sunday. And my work involves highway driving a lot.

3000 km a month, of which 2000 will be on highways

My contribution, last week at the KMP expressway in NCR. Amazing weather, negligible traffic. Bliss.

Signs of a thoroughly enjoyable monsoon highway ride/drive. I can't but help smile when I see them this dirty

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

After patiently waiting for a long time, i went on 120 km drive to a newly constructed Beed Highway. This time, it was the Rainbow chasing the 718.

Very beautiful pic GTO. Btw, where is Sudkhdi ?
No one can match us Gujjus when it comes to love of thepla, once I was surprised seeing our very own eating theplas and sukdhis at top of Mt. Titlis, siting in a restaurant space and ordering (ah well, you know, Nothing !)

I am now eager to reach back home and take mom for a long drive !

Re: Pics: Your first post-lockdown highway drive

This was on uthukuli- chengappalli bypass. A 2 lane road, but with no traffic and good climate. The right recipe for driving a non a/c car. One thing I noticed was how direct the Non-powered hydraulic steering was compared to other cars we have.
This picture was captured on the way when taking the little ss80 for restoration.
