Haven't quite been out on a proper drive yet, but could take two of my boys out for a stretch!

Really it has been very unpleasant to just turn the engine on and off for the past 4 months and not take them out for a spin.
In July during Unlock 1.0, one day with the car and another with the motorcycle, was finally able to hit the Highway. Few snaps below.









It's really encouraging to see others taking overnight trips also. Hoping to do one next month. Fingers crossed.

Sometime in May/June when things became slightly better, I started looking for options to explore as day-drives/ half day drives or picnic drives.

Since then, I kept doing on almost every Sunday as long as it was not a curfew or lockdown - looked for a small blue patch on map (the lakes, dams and reservoirs) within 100 kms from home around Bangalore, drove there post lunch with chai in flask and some snacks, spent couple of hours and back home for dinner. I have piled up a lot of backlog for these updates on my car’s ownership thread but here are few -

So far, no overnight stays, no outside food, full caution for social distancing and sanitisation. the roads are crowded as usual, everything outside seems normal except that news of some neighbour being infected and being HQ’ed or IQ’ed.

We have been stepping out almost every weekend and go out on a 50-500 km drive. Depending on the distance, we either carry lunch+tiffin or just evening tea+snacks and avoid all possible interactions with people.

Went out with family for a short highway drive yesterday to Antara Gange, Kolar. It was first highway drive post-lockdown. Enjoyed the drive thoroughly. Looking forward for similar drives in coming weekends.

Back in May, perhaps third week when i finally decided to re-open my clinic in Pune Post lockdown, I decided to travel back from my hometown Mahad where I was holed up for almost two months. This pic was taken during a brief mandatory stop at Waghjai whilst traveling from Varandh ghat. I was casually watching this bandar when he decided to remove the doctor symbol, and then proceeded to chew off the antenna.

Before we could enjoy any kind of drive around chandigarh ,Punjab government has again put up the curfew after 7 pm in the evening .Himachal already requires a covid negative test report before issuing any entry pass to outsider's like us .

However two days back while going to see my vacant plot on outskirts of Mohali ,it started raining and while passing through the semi urban road between the fields ,I managed to see the Shivalik hills nearby in Himachal .The picture is attached .Normally ,we donot get to see the hills as clearly .

A trip to Shettihalli with family, this is one of our favorite spot for drives. And after ages we had carried packed home food for a drive.



After 3+ months of monotonous life, some relief for kids.



A short drive to Mandaragiri Hill with family. A lonely place with no crowd around. We had carried lunch during this drive too.

Stopped under a tree to have our lunch(Near Vani Vilas dam). Its a nice feeling to have the lunch this way

Haven't really gone too far from home due to obvious reasons but me being in Mangalore have a lot of beautiful places to visit within a radius of 150-200kms.

Slightly off topic. But how are you guys managing the ePass for such drives. I applied twice and got no response other than an SMS. No update after that.

I applied for an e-pass on https://punepolice.in as I was travelling from Pune to Mumbai and it was issued to me in a couple of hours. The document came on my Whatsapp number. The reason stated was visiting parents for Ganesh Chaturthi.
Some more relaxations expected.

I have tried this. I didnt receive any approval yet! The customer care number is fairly useless.

I'm super glad for you. I spent two glorious years in Manipal a decade ago; how about Kudremukh, Kudlu theertha/Sita falls (never mind the long trek by foot through the jungle), Charmadi ghats (even though its a tad far), Jog falls, Bekal fort....the list is long indeed!!

Enjoy. I'm stuck here in Chennai with the e-passes still encumbering any potential trips to anywhere. And where can I go anyway over here to get to see or experience such beautiful sights that we get in and around Mangalore?
