I am seeing a lot of cars with large font stickers in the front windshield.
something similar to image below:



Almost all the cars had them in fairly large fonts and mostly in off-white. Wordings varied, from one's own name to words inspired from rapper culture.

Firstly, stickers on lower part of windshield looks horrible and as you said these large stickers will block vision for sure, especially in the nights.

Kids, Potholes and smaller objects will definitely be blocked due to this stupid FAD. As it is frontal visibility of our cars (hatchbacks and sedans) is very less compared to MUVs and SUVs like Pajero, Sierra, Qualis, Thar, etc.

These windshield stickering should be banned by RTO. These are dangerous, obstruct the view of drivers, also might deviate the concentration of on coming vehicles. I find it totally useless.

It is only a matter of time before these things "go out of trend", if they even make it to the trend, that is.

I'm sure any sensible driver who spends more than few minutes behind the wheel wouldn't install such stickers on the windshield. If installed, he/she wouldn't tolerate them for many days.

If it by any chance (<1%), becomes the trend, I'm pretty sure the Govt will step in. So, this thing is just like those songs which become viral for few weeks and then disappear into thin air.

Stickers on windshield are very common nowadays. People like to have stickers like society & office parking,travel groups,community stickers pasted on windshields for ease of access & other reasons. But stickers on front windshield especially on the line of sight are very dangerous. Vision is hampered badly. These should be banned by RTO & treated as a cognizable offence.

Hated the 90s trend of stickers on the windshield and especially the practice of tinted films on both top and bottom of the windshield. Making outside visibility like through some slits.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but c'mon. At the cost of visibility, that too frontal?

Guess it started with the HOONIGAN stickers. That too in the line of sight. Not just modders, ordinary folks too emulated it like that racing 'tag' hanging in the rear trend.
But can't see the stickers nowadays.
Guess the police here started cracking on it. Or is it cause of the new normal, not seeing them outside much?

We Indians simply can't keep a car in stock form. Buy a car for lakhs with smart phone enabled features and then drive straight to a sticker shop. Paste dark films and / or a ₹50 sticker caption in header of front windshield to show the who they are .

Technically any sort of film or sticker on the glass which obstructs view is banned as per the court ruling on sunfilms. So it just needs the police to wake up someday and start a crackdown against such stickers. I have seen some sticking it outside the glass in the path of the wiper blade. It will ruin the blades in no time. I wonder when people will develop some common sense.

I have no experience with windshield stickers, but I always thought people who do such stuff atleast have the wisdom to paste these stickers on the inner surface of the windshield, like in the case of Fastag. Pasting stickers on the outer surface of the windshield is news to me!

Off topic, but another such trend that bewilders me is some guys riding faired bikes keeping their rear-view mirrors akin to Bugs Bunny's ears; especially the ones riding Pulsar 220s and R15s.

Hah! At the height of a pro-reservation movement in MH a few years back, several cars (perhaps belonging to a certain community) had dark stickers with the image of a certain king covering the entire front windshield. Certain followers of a certain political party have stickers with the image of their late supremo, even now.

No one on earth can get them to remove it. But hey, you can't even put a 80% transparency sunfilm because Supreme Court said so and RTO considers it their duty to enforce it.

I have done my entire schooling travelling daily in these bolero and maxx taxi and everyone of them had such stickering all over the front windshield. It is some sort of taxi tradition here in Uttarakhand.

I strongly condemn it as in some of these cars one cannot see beyond the bonnet without bending one's neck.

Cabs have always had these stickers, but never seen them on the bottom area in private cars. Awful idea from the visibility point of view.

On top of the windscreen however . I would never do it today, but it felt cool as a college student in the 90s:

I hate any sort of stickers on the windshield as it adds a blind spot, however small it is. But on a practical note, we are mostly forced to use branded stickers to ensure smooth entry/exit in work/residence. I have often suggested and requested to replace them with danglers or pasting the stickers somewhere other than windshield.
Stickers on the rear windshield (rear glass) are an equal menace actually. It is very common to see the complete list of contact numbers and religious stickers which cover the complete rear windshield in cabs in cities. I have no clue how they reverse without having a camera as there is zero or minimal visibility.
In a country where we cannot have sun films on windows, how can it be legal to use such stickers on windshields?

I have one of those windshield clips and I slip in my office and society parking stickers in them, depending on where I'm going.

A friend once told me it's not safe to display your society/ workplace sticker (esp workplace sticker) for potential liability and privacy issues and I'm sort of inclined to agree with him.

Yup, these stickers in special fonts are the current cool way of naming your car.

In a fancy automotive project of yours, I can accept, but, on fast, low slung sedans where most of the visibility is from the lower area of the windshield, it's definitely not happening.
